I figured this would be the case.

The only way to make Star Fox relevant again is a complete rework I think, and I don't think another Star Fox Adventures type of game will do it.

I don't get why Nintendo didn't go with a smaller budget on this and make it an eShop only game, with more content at a smaller budget.

@austin_walker: Thanks Austin. I'm by no means in a position where I'm not earning decently, but the price of gaming, groceries, housing, etc definitely all adds up... which means I (and a lot of other Canadians) don't have the option to easily plop down money for a new release. It's pretty shitty to see a game go on sale in Canada when said sale is actually just the regular price a retail game used to be 2 years ago.

The price isn't bad considering what you get.

You get two different stories in both games. Then the differences between the two games are more significant than something like Pokemon, where I'd only ever buy one version of the game.

Birthright is easier than Conquest, and Conquest has different goals per mission. You also can't replay chapters to gain more EXP in Conquest but you can in Birthright, and Birthright overall is just easier. Then on top of this you get DLC that ties the two together.

It's worse if you're in Canada. It's $112 after tax in Ontario for all three versions - even considering the fact that you get the second path (Conquest or Birthright) digitally for 50% off once you buy one version as a physical copy.

I think in this case it's more worth it than it would be if it was something like Pokemon. There's enough different between the two games.

I'm about 12 hours in. I'm in agreement with Dan on this one, it's the best battle system of any of the games thus far. The addition of Paper Mario is awesome, plus the speedier pace is much appreciated. I actually don't think the Paper Craft battles control poorly, but they're pretty annoying. Collecting Toads is getting annoying too but they change up the type of mini-game enough to make it interesting.

This is the best game of the year, close it down. We're done.

I had a feeling that the Best Game would end up being Super Mario Maker.

That said, seeing all the staff's top 10 list this year made me realize how many unique titles have been released all year. It also made me realize I don't play games as much as I used to and there's a ton of indie stuff I missed out on that I'll need to visit sometime this year.

As usual, the GB staff had some amazing coverage this year for their year end lists, loved it!
