Since screened.com hasnt done Avatar yet, I will (semi-spoilers)

It was fucking disgusting; a complete injustice to the source material.

Why?

• All the story is rushed, underdeveloped, and (spoilers) one of the fire nation converts to the "good side" suggests for the water princess to give up her life, and the whole scene develops in a matter of seconds. it basically consists of stealing the avatar and getting him back 3 times and then a battle at the end; in the show, there is much more reason and character development that goes on mixing mythology and native folklore- but M. Night felt like that was uneeded, and was more focused on getting from one summer action 3D scene to another. Speaking of which, the 3D was obviously last second since the film doesn't take any advantage of it.
  
• The acting and script are gonna make you talk yourself into walking out of the movie. I almost did. If you decide to go to the movie for a good laugh or really want to see for yourself because you still have hope in M. Night, you are gonna want to destroy some of the cast when you see how emotionless and dry they are. Its hard to rag on kid actors or teens (well, not teens), but there are so many other options that whoever was in charge of casting must have been severely rushed or must have severe brain damage.
  
• The story changes a lot of the source material, mostly because M. Night is the writer, director, and producer, and thus everything is his horrible way.
• The action scenes are great, but are usually meaningless and/or conduits to more horrible dialogue and to one of the most abrupt endings ever. I know this is only 1 part of a 3 movie series (yeah, he may be making 2 more if he goes according to the books of avatar), but how the fuck did he think this was any sort of "twist or cliffhanger or segue" to the next book. No, without spoiling too much, a new enemy to capture avatar and let him go and rinse dry and repeat while M. Night destroys the source material. 

 
Don't go see it, especially if you like the original show. Don't let this fucknut ruin your fond memories.
 
Seriously, how did the mind behind Sixth Sense and Unbreakable write, direct, and produce this?
