I can admire your effort, I doubt anyone else will.

The PSP Go seemed like a system that was doomed to fail from the very beginning. Having a new system is nice but what’s the point without the games? I personally can’t recall being excited for a PSP game in a very long time. Well, there is that Persona 3 port, but that just shows another problem with the PSP. Who the hell is playing the thing? Everyone and their mother have either a DS or an iPhone that does the portable gaming way better than the PSP ever did. I bought one two years ago and I don’t think I’ve played it in about a good year. The PSP has no niche that it can call its own. I’m wondering who is left to buy it other than insane early adopters.

The reason why I think that Sony would release a new PSP would be to try and cut down the horrifically high piracy rate. While that is a noble effort, it’s pointless now. In this age there is absolutely no device that can be pirate proof. Companies gotta realize that pirates have an infinite time and resources to crack whatever you release. This means that this whole effort is almost pointless.

One other thing that this thing has against it is the price. Who in their right mind would buy this thing when you can get a PS3 for fifty dollars more?

Should Sony just stop and cut their losses? I say yes, what of you?

i was never intested in  it because all the games seem like trying to put console games on a handheld. but some people like that so,

The PSP is expensive, but to say that it has no worthwhile games is ludicrous. I'm not a huge RPG guy, but they'll tell you that handhelds are where its at this gen.

I know many people, including myself who have more reason to own a PSP than a PS3, and so the money argument does not mean much.

And no, the iPhone has absolutely nothing on the PSP as a portable gaming console.

I'm in a wait-and-see mood. I want to see how it does when it comes out and how much they support. That still doesn't mean that the price is right for it, though.

Having just spent a three-hour trip on the train playing the PSP, I'm certainly one person using the PSP. In fact interestingly enough, so was the dude a few rows forward on the train playing a PSP - I made note of it because, it's true, it's not something you see that often. I was playing Dissidia Final Fantasy. I dunno what the other guy on the train was playing.

And when I got off the train and walked the mile trek to my home, all I could think about was how excited I was for my PSP Go preorder that's turning up next week -- seeing as the PSP-1000 in my pocket was sticking out and weighing my trousers down so they felt all lop-sided.

So in response to your thread - which tries to emphasise that no one is playing these things; you've certainly found one person who is.

As someone who travels for three hours on the train at least three days a week; I ordered the PSP Go as soon as the thing was announced. Smaller, lighter, a possibility of having over 30 games (running on estimate file sizes, and a memory stick in the slot) all accessible from my pocket. No need to switch discs, change drives, alter anything. All there, in a device that no longer points out of my pocket, and no longer weighs my trousers down. Not to mention the "Pause game" functionality which sounds like nothing, but will be an essential way of not wasting battery, but getting the system shut down when I arrive at my "Stop", without hindering game progress.

I agree it's not perfect and I agree it's expensive, but your comments were hyperbolic at best. I enjoy my PSP and I'm sorry you don't. I guess the PSP Go is just not for you. Oh well, you don't have to buy it.

Oh - and the PSP is consistently the second best selling platform in Japan on a weekly basis; and it doesn't do TERRIBLY (poorly yes, but not as bad as you're suggesting) in America/Europe.

So, exactly what were you saying again?

As an owner of a PSP, DS, and an iPod touch, I prefer gaming on my PSP these days. The iPod has a lot unique little games but I have yet to find anything outside of Peggle that had any legs for me personally. The DS has a lot of quality titles but also shares a problem with its bigger brother in that devs seem to feel compelled to use all of its features whether they work well in the game or not. I'm not claiming the PSP is a superior system but for the type of experience I want on the go it is my platform of choice.

The PSP in general is a great console, though the library is a bit lacking (there are some gems). The PSP Go on the other hand, spits in the faces of everyone who already owns a PSP, telling them they can't play any of the games they've previously bought for it unless they keep their old one (which no sane person would do). I don't know what Sony has against people playing older games, but it is the main reason why I don't buy anything new from them
