I tend to pick a few games to support when I listen to the GotY deliberations each year, since it makes things more interesting (the same way it does for picking a team while watching a football match). Here are mine, with some obvious ones and some more obscure.
Supporting for the Top 10 List: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Nier: Automata, Mario & Rabbids
And hoping for some mentions of these smaller games in some category: SteamWorld Dig 2, Golf Story
Well final results, three of my games came in second, third and fourth so those are pretty good. A shame Mario & Rabbids, Steamworld Dig 2 and Golf Story didn't make it into any category, but Steamworld Dig 2 at least was pretty close to cracking the top 10.
I found the podcasts a lot of fun, and I even loved it when they spent an hour arguing about what the Best World category was. The part that exhausts me is reading the comment sections - it feels like people don't realise that the awards and the Top 10 are intentionally arbitrary / kind of pointless in the first place. You're not going to die if your game is in third instead of second or whatever. That said, Tropical Freeze was robbed.

Thanks for all your work here! You had an important role in the site, doing a lot of real journalism and looking deeper into the industry in a lot of ways. I thought your editorials complemented the general video content here perfectly.
