It's becoming pretty clear that games-wise the Wii U is currently the best current-gen console on the market. Bayonetta 2 isn't all you'd be getting a system for, there's also Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, (the definitive version of) Rayman Legends, Shovel Knight, and for some regions the first legal release of Earthbound. And of course Smash Bros releases soon.

Don't be afraid to get one just because a year ago it was a meme that the Wii U was failing. It had poor game support at launch but the library has been steadily building up and will only get better.

I'm glad to see this post made.

Yes, it might not be necessarily true that silence is the same as being complicit, but what I do know is that a lot of harassers think it is. A lot of their worldview on this kind of stuff relies on the fact that they believe that the people who disagree with them do so because they're whiny easily offended types, and so when people like Jeff who are known for "telling it like it is" and "not bringing politics into games" keep quiet, it just reinforces the idea in the heads of harassers that this is some kind of war between the people who "keep it honest" and the people who are "easily offended".

Not speaking up doesn't mean complicity, but it does mean that harassers feel safe and it does mean that harassers think you're on their side, and that's an idea that upsets me. That is why I make an effort to speak up.

I've been following the site for years, but just signed up as a premium subscriber yesterday to watch Dan's WoW and Mario Party videos. Someone with genuine unfiltered enthusiasm for games as a medium honestly makes a big difference to the feel of the site. The cynical deconstruction of games is interesting and informative but when it's the only thing happening it can leave the impression that gaming is a chore and that the industry is in a rut.

I also hope Dan can plug some of the gaps in genre interest. It's good to hear that Dan is a big fan of Smash and Zelda, because the podcast sometimes passes over fantastic, top quality games simply because nobody in the office is personally invested in them (particularly with Nintendo, where a common sentiment is "I understand that the game is high quality but it just doesn't interest me") and I'd love to see more discussion on Smash as it approaches.
