Parents let son drop outa school to focus on Guitar Hero

Have Fun
Have Fun

Now, I'm not the one to protect the parents based on their kids stupid decisions, but honestly, everyone's the idiot here. 16 year-old Blake Peebles desired to delve into the world of professional gaming via Guitar Hero. It would be one thing if this kid was some sorta prodigy, winning enough money to take care of himself, but the Kotaku story states he has only won about $1,000. His moms response to this madness, "we just couldn't take the complaining anymore".

I have been spoiled

With Xbox live Arcade this month/ So far I couldn't even tell you my favorite. I enjoyed Geometry Wars 2 like everyone else, and love Braid and Bionic Commando in different ways. Both me, and a fellow bomber we thinking of have a Giantbomb community session with Castle Crashers, so PM me if interested.

Gears 2's special edition, better than helmet

For $139.99 you can pre-order Gears of War 2's special edition from Amazon. Instead of getting a helmet no one can wear besides your cat, you get a life size lancer. Technically your paying for the gun, and getting Gears of War 2 for free, however.

What am I playing this weekend?

I want to play more Braid, because I know if I don't  play through it this weekend, I'll never play it. Also I wanna borrow something else from the store tonight, but I don't know what. I did manage to play Madden 09 at Gamestop, because my manager wanted an open copy to play after launch. Opinion thus far, totally Madden. I don't want to get into a discussion about it, but the graphics look off to me in the sence that everythings appears to be really close on screen. This may be a depth of field thing, I'm really not positive, only got to play the game for about 15 minutes. The VR Tron style the game puts you in for "The Madden Test" is totally tight, I only wish you could play the game with that visual style. Please Madden 2010?

Videogames are Sexual Predators & Terriosts.

"Do not be alarmed, but according to The Christian Post, there are terrorists in your house right now.

"You may be surprised at how many 'terrorists' there are in your home right now. Video games, computers, cell phones, teen magazines, music, TV, & movies: all of which fall under the umbrella of entertainment and all are likely perpetrators," wrote columnist Ron Luce, pictured left.

"Every time we let unsupervised media into our homes and into our kids' minds, we have invited a terrorist into our home," the author of the recent novel Re-Create: Building a Culture in Our Homes That Is Stronger Than the Culture Deceiving Our Kids justified.

Luce claimed that letting an unsupervised child with videogames or any other modern media is the equivalent of  "letting a known thief and sexual predator of young girls" spend time with your family, as "these modern occupiers of time dispense a river of polluted entertainment riddled with the same values driving the visitor at your front door."

"Although we consider [movies, television and music] entertainment, they are actually infotainment," he concluded, noting that they "impart values and information about the world, maybe information about life, that your kids are not ready to process and absorb."

I recently babysat my friends 6 year-old girl for three hours, and I let her play Wii Sports while I was in the other room...I'm a terrible person. Play your Xbox, Listen to your iPod, watch your Bluerays, and the terrorists win. But I will always keep in mind, "We must be careful what we invite into our living room in the name of entertainment. If you let the wrong things in, these terrorists will seduce your kids, impart harmful values and, in doing so, inject poison into your kids’ worldview that could follow them for the rest of their lives. If we can perceive the perils of a depraved culture all around us, surely we are smart enough not to invite a terrorist into our living room."

This is what I have to say to you Luce (if that is your real name) I'm going to Iraq in less than 14 months, and I'm going to be in close combat. The chances are in my 5 month deployment I'm going to be in a situation that I'm going to have to shoot a terriost. I think my decision is rather or not to shoot a human being, not a copy of Gears of War. Choose a better metaphor next time.

In totally unrelated news, and super old news to add to that. I haven't visted Penny Arcade in a few weeks, and went on it to read all their comics. Here's their E3 comic.

Braid = Awesome

That's easy math.
So I've been playing Braid for awhile, and my first impressions are...awesome. I would go into the art style, but I'm assuming you've all seen screenshots, but in motion on a widescreen TV the game looks beautiful. I actually can't believe how much of a Mario feel it has, when you get to the end of a level a little dude comes out and says "our princess is in another castle". The overall control, feel, and music of the game mold together very nicely. I'm going to review the game after I go through it twice, but I highly recommend at least downloading the trial.

Who the hell is playing GeometryWars2?

I've been itching to write something this weekend, but goddamn nothings going on in our world of gaming worth writing about. I have been playing Soul Calibur 4, opinion thus far, “eh”. What I have been enjoying is Geometry Wars 2, but I'm stuck in a rut. I have over 60 people on my friends list, but only one guy on my list bought it. So this kind of deflates my interests in playing a game that the fun is about beating your friends scores, so if you bought it or plan to buy it send me a friends request. My gamertag is Epicbomb. In other aspects in my life I got a job at Gamestop, which is sweet because I get to rent stuff and take it out of the store for a few days. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting on all your blogs more frequently, but I've been a little busy. I'll have a Geometry Wars 2 review up by the end of the week.

P.S.
Went to a local bar the other day, and saw an original Street Fighter 2 arcade machine, I'll post the picture later. Oh, and does anyone know if there's a date when Quake Live will be available?

Friday the 13th remake seems pretty cool

At Comic-Con the Friday the 13 remake was revealed, and while some remakes are a little less-so awesome I'm a sucker for my favorite franchise. I was going to post the trailer I saw on here, but it was taken off Youtube right after I watched it. The trailer was about 45 seconds long and followed two teenagers walking through the woods. They quickly discover a shanty and walk inside it, this is obviously a recreation of Jason's shack in Part 2. The male walks in front of his girlfriend and pulls something suspicious out of an ominous corner of the room, it is a head of an older female. This was of course the decapitated head of Pamela Voorhees, Jason's mother. A machete slices the boys foot through the wooden floor, the girl watches as her boyfriend is pulled under by a man (Jason) wearing a sack over his head. The rest of the trailer is an action montage, and I couldn't tell what was going on due to the low quality of the video. What was an interesting quality Jason showed was the ability to run, which for some strange reason Jason mysteriously lost the ability to run after his victims after Part 4.

Here's a list of what has been confirmed about the plot

-The movie isn't a remake of Part 1, but retells Friday the 13 2-4.

-Jason's mother is in it, but its unknown if she will be seen as a killer.

-Unlike the Halloween remake this isn't an origin story, but the film will briefly show Jason as a child.

-If any other Friday fans are reading this, then you'll know Jason wasen't supernatural until the 6 film Jason Lives, so like part's 2-4 Jason isn't a walking corpse.

-The producers kept stressing this is a “real” film, so no, Jason wont take 100 bullets or travel to space and become a homicidal cyborg.

A list of things I really want to know

-Will Jason's father be introduced?

-Is Jason the protagonist or antagonist?

-Will this be the first entry in the series to have actual characters?

-Will the same basic plot of his mother being killed by one of her targets remain?

-How long will Jason wear his pillow case?

As you all should know I'm a huge Friday fan, and February can't come soon enough.

Only available image from the film, I think the day time shot is pretty distributing. Is day scarier than nighttime? Maybe Friday and Resident Evil 5 have something to prove.

Hello young lady, I know I'm scary but I'm really just a lifeguard.

Anyone thinking this will tank I leave you with this, it can' be worse than Part 8 or Jason's space adventure. Also in relations to my bitching regarding that low quality Future Cop LAPD page, my new article got approved and replaced the badly written, and misinformed page.
