2020 is almost over and I think the only 2020 release I played was the C&C remaster.

Also, why the hell does the weapon vendor even exist? If you bought anything from him during your whole playthrough let me know because I'm probably missing something here.

I bought a heavy machine gun from him once, since I hadn't gotten any good heavy weapon drops, and I was close to leveling, and he sells weapons one level below and one level above you, so the gun one level above mine seemed like a good enough idea. Of course I suddenly got three heavy weapon drops right after that.

  • Yup, mission designs would be top priority. Sounded like there were actual varied objectives and even puzzles in the raids. They should've had stuff like that in the actual story missions too.

  • Making unlocked mission starting points accessible from the patrol mode, so you won't have to go back into orbit every time (also, the game should probably just send you into patrol mode rather than orbit after finishing a mission). A way to see your currently available missions while at the tower and other locations, without having to enter orbit. Since there are mission specific bounties, it's pretty silly that you aren't allowed to see if the mission you're about to accept a bounty for is available or haven't already been done.

  • As others have pointed out, implementing clan support beyond just showing clan tags would be pretty useful.

  • I also think it would be useful to have a weapon favorites system, so you can switch between your weapon classes (and possibly your subclass) without having to go through the inventory. Instead of having the d-pad be all emotes, there should probably be a modifier key which switches the d-pad between emote and favorited weapons modes. It should probably be done somewhat like in Defiance, where switching between loadouts takes a couple of seconds as well as having a cooldown, so you can't switch the guns constantly.

  • Oh, and make the fucking moon area show which places are off limits. There are a couple of spots that you get "TURN BACK" countdown despite being inbetween accessible terrain, and even having structures (pipes) that look like something you'd want to explore. There are also steep enough ridges around it so you have a hard time getting out of there before the countdown ends (but it's really easy to fall in there).

This better be a new Colony Wars.

This would be great, but if they were going to make a new Colony Wars they would've announced it at E3 or Gamescom. I don't think Japan is really the target market for another one of those.

There have been a few Japanese space combat games, and Ace Combat is incredibly popular there. Ace Combat in a space setting would be fine with me (Psygnosis who made the original Colony Wars games aren't around anymore, so someone else would have to make the new ones anyway).

Thanks guys, anyway no more jokes like Gun Home or E to eat chips, keep writing

Weird that you consider Gone Home a joke reply, since it's the closest thing I can think of to what you ask for. It's a non-violent first person game, with highly realistic graphics, with a realistic setting and generally realistic characters.

I'd think the "realistic" thing was a kinda weird requisite in what you asked for, but since you put that in the topic, there really aren't a lot of realistic games out there at all, and the ones that are semi-realistic are either straight up military shooters like ARMA/Operation Flashpoint, or entirely non-violent like Gone Home. Most of the games people have suggested other than that are set in non-realistic settings. They are all great games, but not what you specifically asked for.

Yup, like Jeff stated in some recent bombcast, that thing in particular where low level players can't even damage higher level enemies is particularly annoying to me.

I think Defiance did some really interesting stuff with that at launch, where leveling up only gave you more ability points, but all the gear had same stats for all players - a new player's machine gun would do the same amount of damage as a level 3000 guy (Defiance has a really incomprehensible level system with a cap at around 3000 or so, but you gain about 20-50 levels when the experience bar fills up, and you randomly go up in level as you do stuff), but the higher level guy would get bonuses to proc special status effects and stuff like that, thanks to the abilities they had unlocked. Seems like that system wasn't popular among people though, since shortly before the game went free to play, they switched to level based gear. Still not quite as ridiculous as other MMO's, since you can always damage higher level enemies, but a level 10 gun does about 1/5 the damage of a level 3000 thing, and if you take on a way higher level enemy, you're generally dead if you're hit twice.

I hope that more MMO's will try to play around with this stuff, maybe skip leveling altogether, since as you say, it really only gets in the way of what MMO's should be about.

@fisk0: I played the PC version; Magic Carpet Plus. The fog was pretty intense.

It's been a long time since I played it. Looking at the GOG screenshots, yeah, it looks to have quite a lot of fog.

Which platform did you play on? I didn't recall fog being all that much of an issue on PC, but I could totally see it being a problem in the PS1/PSN version. But, yeah, the controls haven't aged particularly well (Descent and Terminal Velocity were released around the same time and hold up quite a lot better), and, yeah, Bullfrog have made some way better titles.

But even aside from it being impressive at the time of release, I think the looping world stuff is still pretty cool.

I just hope the expansion(s) or Destiny 2 will feature Descent style asteroid dungeon crawling and space shooting. Those ship designs seem fit for that.

I have no problems with the supers. I do kinda have a problem with the common, uncommon and rare weapon stuff, and the fact that you really don't unlock all the basics of your class until you hit level 15 or so - you don't unlock the stat boosts or grenade/super modifiers until then. Even though they level out the damage output of the guns and stuff like that, high level players still have weapons with additional modifiers for stuff like reload speed and stuff like that, something lower level players straight up can't access. Puts lower level players at a severe disadvantage. You unlock your super at the same point as you unlock your ability to play the crucible though, so that part is not much of an issue.
