oh god that was the scariest fucking day of my life. my dad worked in Manhattan back then and he just managed to hop on the last train out of grand central before the quarantine went up. i knew more than a few people who lost relatives in those attacks. the worst was that we didn't know what else was coming. rumors were flying around that Manhattan was going to be bombed and there were still other planes in the sky unaccounted for. my mom's side of the family lives in DC so of course we were worried about them too. and then the images of the towers burning, and when I finally heard they were gone it was fucking devastating. if you go down by the shore in my town you can see the Manhattan skyline and just seeing the towers gone and all the smoke in the air was horrible. god I don't even like to think about it.
that's cool, I've gotten into watching starcraft II matches through day[9]'s streams. it's much more entertaining than I ever thought it could be. I might watch these.
i was just playing oddworld for the first time since it came out and it amused me how similar the emote system is to Fable II's. you can even fart needlessly. i wonder if there's any influence there.
bullet hell games are actually kind of recent. you probably mean shmup. bullet hell refers to a specific type of shmup where the focus is on dodging the insane amount of bullets that the game throws at you. like this:
but yeah shmups are sort of making a comeback. I think it's because of the rise of digital distribution. this type of game is easy for a small team to make and appeals to a specific niche audience which makes them a good choice for psn or xbox live.
