My biggest pet peeve this year has been seeing indie game after indie game coming out and looking quite good, and then they all turn out to be procedurally generated roguelikes. I'd like to see that get some kind of award.
IF PUBG is eligible it'll be Zelda vs Pubg, Zelda probably wins when Dan Ryckert pulls out the scumbag here's this handy dandy list of 500 billion bugs in battlegrounds list I have here (also no one actually wants to argue about video games anymore). Without PUBG Zelda wins in a no contest assuming Mordor isn't the greatest game ever (it might still make top 10 though). Nier falls around 6th or so with Alex saying "nyeh I put up a good enough fight," also wins best story after he rhapsodizes 2B's ass. RE7 10th seems smart, Persona 5 I'm sure no one had enough time to play except maybe A Striker (who rarely gets his games in the top 10); Horizon 3rd or 4th via Jeff clause (also just a damn good game), Nioh fails to make top 10 despite being at least top 3 if not top 1 game of the year because of the Souls Glass Ceiling in GB GoTY. Mario probably middle of the list somewhere a la 3D Land.
@redhotchilimist: Sagat and Sakura are basically guaranteed, Decapre, Makoto, and C. Viper are all relatively likely; probably ~2 new or rarely seen characters. Blanka, Honda, and Hakan are very unlikely, though Honda in S4 or S5 could happen, Blanka maybe as well.
Pretty fun stuff, the building up to an inaccessible hill to setup a double flank one of my favorites and obviously not possible in PUBG; got 2nd like 6 times in 30 games but my evasive strategy usually doesn't pay out in the loots and I rarely get circle luck at the end to compensate for it /shrug
Go play it if you haven't, it's like a top 20 game all time and certainly the best stealth action gameplay ever. Maybe people will start playing MGO again? (Probably not, but it was a fun time while it lasted) Personally I'll probably play through the regular story again for funsies, skipping the non open world trash. As a side note MGSV is the most PUBGable game ever, come on Konami copy that shit like the soulless corporation you are, it'll be fun!
