I really didn't know too much what to expect from this one. I had seem footage of the game when it came out in the early 2000s, but nothing much after that.

In general, I thought it was a pretty good classic Resident Evil. The story was below average and the environments looked way too bland and generic. Removing the magic item box seemed like a cool idea at first, then I ended up wasting hours carrying my arsenal from one safe room to the next.

The dual character mechanic was an excellent addition to the series formula and reminded me a little bit of the game's ancestor, Sweet Home. I thought could have been used a little more creatively though.

A game that had a lot of potential, but in the end played it too safe.

This game is oozing with warmth, humanity and love. From the incredibly charming pixel-art graphics, to the inspiring soundtrack, to the gripping story, Owlboy has it all.

It was kind of a revelation for me how much eye opening it was to be playing as a disabled character. The game underlined brilliantly the importance of friends and emotional support when you're not like everybody else.

The only nitpicks I could find with the game would be the controls. I often mixed the L2/R2 buttons and very often I ended up teleporting a companions on top of a fruit instead of grabbing it.

It will have taken me 22 years and a remaster to finish this game. I loved this game back in the N64 days but I always got lost in the huge levels where you couldn't see six feet in front of you. With the HD remaster, the fog was lifted and it made a world of difference.

I think the game is still very fun and holds up to this day as a simple exploration shooting gallery. Assembling the secret weapon was very fun and it was so satisfying to get to use it on the last boss.

Still, the game design is very basic and you always have the same objectives on each level.

I had been craving a good gaming challenge lately and boy did this game deliver. I think that for every boss I first encountered I said "there's no way I'm going to be able to defeat it". But, through careful study of the enemy attacks and patterns, I was always able to succeed eventually ... and it felt like a triumph every time.

I love the emphasis on the sword combat and the fact that there are no ways to grind power (as it is possible in Dark Souls game). The prosthetic arm weapons were a nice add but I didn't use them as much as I would have thought. Maybe they would be more useful in NG+.

The stealth mechanics complemented enemy placement most of the time and it was a fun callback to the Tenchu franchise. With the new jump ability, a lot more emphasis is put on environment traversal and light platforming. It works really well most of the time (and serves as a welcome change of pace from Dark Souls games), but in exploring I often found myself hitting invisible walls, breaking the illusion of freedom.

  • Completed on June 27th on Normal and Easy

[+] No randomness, all mistakes are 100% yours.

[+] Varied mech teams, not all damage-focused.

[-] Time traveling pilots is a cool mechanic but doesn't matter all that much.

[-] Achievements and progression mechanics doesn't encourage playing on harder than easy difficulties.

    8/10

[+] Story mode is a great way to discover mechanics

[-] Online multiplayer is unplayable because of the lag

[-] Course world is a little underwhelming

I wanted to replay FFVII before the remake comes out to see the story again. All those years later, this game is still amazing to me. It's crazy to think that this was the first 3D Final Fantasy ... they really went all out!

The last time I completed the game was more than 15 years ago, and at the time the story seemed too convoluted for me. I appreciated the plot way more this time. I love that for most of the game, the direct threat is not Sephiroth himself, but the manifestation of nature's destruction through Meteor and the Weapons.

I didn't really take the time to enjoy the gameplay since I played on Switch with the cheats on, but my stance on gameplay remains the same as it was before.

It had been many many years since I played Super Mario World to completion and I had never finished all the levels (including the secret world).

The game 100% holds up today as one of the best platformers ever made. What surprised me the most during this playthrough is the amount of custom art and mechanics that are specific to a single level. When you encounter one of those, it's always a special moment. A good example would be the ghost ship that takes you to bowser land.

Not sure if this is better than Super Mario Bros 3, but it's close.

I dived into the campaign immediately after completing the first game for the second time. While I think I enjoyed the levels in the second game more, I think I had a better experience with the first game because I took the time to replay the levels a couple of times. For the second game, I just wanted to see the story and get to the end. I would really like to take my time to replay the levels of Hitman 2 before the third game comes out.

I think the developers learned a lot from the first game a crafted an overall better set of levels. Each environment feels radically different and inspires different playstyles.

The lone sniper mission that came with the base game was a ton of fun, I would have loved to see more levels like this.

It is pretty amazing to think that this game came out in 1998. The quality of the voice acting and some of the cinematography reminded me of Metal Gear Solid.

The graphics are also sort of mind blowing for the era. The amount of detail in the textures and in every environment (except for dungeons) is incredible. Every corner of the world looks differents and it seems that almost nothing is recycled.

With that being said, the controls certainly feel old. At the time the industry was still figuring out how to make us control a character in a 3D environment. The game's controls are not aweful, but could use a lot of small tweaking to improve player comfort.

The dungeons were okay at best. A lot of bland environments without a lot of variety. I would have appreciated more platforming challenges ... it's Mega Man after all!

  • Completed on October 30th

[+] Guns feel powerful and different from each other

[-] There has been more variety in past Call of Duty campaign missions

[-] Multiplayer maps feel like smaller and worst Battlefield maps

[-] In a world where Rainbow Six Siege and Titanfall 2 exist, I don't understand how they can get away with a multiplayer shooting experience so basic.

    7/10

  • Completed on November 10th

[+] Some of the hardest choices I've ever had to make in a video game.

[+] Excellent voice acting for the most part.

[+] Seeing the flowchart at the end of each level makes your realise how much your choices impact the story.

[-] Some parts of the story are a bit too on the nose.

[-] I got the early bad ending for one of the characters and felt like I missed a ton of story because of it.

    9/10

  • Completed on November 30th

    6/10

  • Completed on December 22nd with Black Eagles Compaign

[-] Story (maybe just the campaign I did) was somewhat underwhelming.

[-] The monastery exploration gets very repetitive very fast.

[-] A lot of time in combat is spent moving around characters.

    7/10

  • Completed on December 27th

[+] Special moves and combos are easy to pull off and statisfying

[+] Lots of tutorial for learning the combat system

[-] Story moved a bit too fast, discarded characters left and right

[-] Uneven pacing in story, not all fights feel important

    8/10
