Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was confirmed to be 2019's entry in the Call of Duty franchise via a trailer released on May 30, 2019. Unlike 2018's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the game will feature a single-player campaign. The campaign will effectively reboot the Modern Warfare sub-franchise, keeping the character of Captain Price, but setting him in a new conflict, one that will include a terrorist attack on Piccadilly Circus in London. Players will swap between "Tier One Operators" and a rebel faction over the course of the story.
Modern Warfare will be the first game to allow for crossplay in its multiplayer, bringing PS4, Xbox One, and PC players together. It will also be the first game in some time to not sell a season pass for additional maps and content.
Infinity Ward is developing a new engine for use in Modern Warfare, with a focus on improving the audio, animations, and overall visuals.
