Screened was my only exposure to Whisky Media for basically it's whole existence. I found it through some Harmonix person talking about someone's interview with Neil Cicierega (I'm a BIG Lemon Demon fan) about Brody Quest. To this day I don't know why I never checked out GB or the other sites (despite being more into games and comics), but it was still a blast and I'm still here now. Hell, I think the reason I started going to GB after the sale was because Alex was doing stuff there.

Thanks for everything guys!

This and the last episode are real "highs & lows" of ME3.

From an incredibly impactful character death to someone getting offed by some random a-hole from a book in a way that's more annoying than sad.

@epidehl: Do you watch playthroughs of games and tell ppl you beat the game?

I feel like this is an even worse comparison than mine. Fundamentally you are getting the same content from reading or listening to a book. If you want to have book club style discussion about the story and merits of the writing or whatever, there's literally no difference, because that's what a book is. (Unless it's one that does something weird with layouts and stuff, but I'd imagine those are rare.)

With games it's different because of, ya know, gameplay. I'd never say I beat Dark Souls because I watched Vinny do it on this site, but I'd probably say I'd "experienced" it or something. I could comment on the way it handles story/lore and broadly how I feel about some of it's mechanics, but not how it feels. These aren't really comparable scenarios.

And you're right, the guy might not have been "gatekeeping" per-se but he was definitely being a pedantic pain if nothing else.

Man, this audio book email has STRONG "sub-only" anime gatekeeping vibes to it. Let people enjoy things the way that works for them!

@luciddreams117: I feel like it just supports the idea that a bunch of them end up spending a lot of time in meetings at the office, so without that....

And man, I really wanna play this but there's too much else coming out at the end of this month/beginning of next month. Plus I got damn tendonitis.

As someone named Matt, I get called Mike ALL THE TIME. People just really cross those names constantly.

Man, I feel like the discussion about what holds up and doesn't is so couched in nostalgia but people of a certain age just won't admit it and act like the stuff they didn't grow up with is objectively worse.

Like, I grew up mostly on the N64/PS1 (little bit of Genesis), and have zero issue with how those games look as generally kind of like it. Conversely, I super don't care about how SNES games look, and think anything older than that basically looks like shit.

2 of my first experiences with this game were having to recreate my character (visually) because the face importing was busted at launch, and losing all of my unlocks in the multiplayer TWICE (which I'm still slightly bitter about whenever people talk about how good it was). Not exactly good first impressions, so I'm looking forward to watching a more stable version of it.

Huh, I actually have seen every real anime in that quiz except the last one. Most of then are really good, with Sgt. Frog being the first manga I ever bought and the first anime I ever found fansubs for.

Worth noting Death Billiards is a short, and got turned into a full series called Death Parade featuring much more than billiards. It's REALLY good and has a super tonally inappropriate opening that RULES.

Boy, Baulder's Gate could've been cool but uh, as a really squeamish person starting a non-horror game off with first-person body horror seems like a CRAZY choice?
