Circa 2006, I started my new job and like most desk jobs, the hours are long and monotonous. The 'big time' gaming websites, other than review articles and videos, they were dabbling with this new medium called 'podcasting'. So needing something to listen to, I bounced between some but landed on Gamespot's The HotSpot. Rich Gallup was such a great host and was really the personality that made me stick with it, and there just happens to be this great rotating selection of staff that came on too. You get to know them as much as the games themselves. I was sad when Rich left but very soon, a Kane and Lynch review later, history was about to be made. I subscribed to Giant Bomb day one without question and still a member now.
I might've missed a couple of Bombcasts, but through all the Quick Looks, TNT, UPF, and whatever crazy, stupid features, it's been a weekly habit to check in with the folks at Giant Bomb, for 13 years. And especially for the BEast team, Vinny brought them east coast vibes that made it a bit more personal for me, being from New York.
It's been a long ass time. The demographic has changed, video game personalities are in abundance, media consumption is very different. I'm almost 40 now but I'll stick around as long as I can.
I remember posting when Ryan passed.
This time I just wanted to toss this message into the ether.
Thank you Vinny, Brad and Alex.
