I truly believe after seeing the launch trailer today for Modern Warfare 2, that there is absolutely nothing stopping this game from becoming one of the all time top five greats, or maybe the greatest game of this decade. The campaign looks absolutely stunning, with no bumps in the road, I can't imagine where it will take me, and how the story will progress, all I can say is I CANNOT WAIT FOR TUESDAY!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

wow, that was actually pretty cool what you made.  
it looks like a great game, the campaign looks fun and over the top (in a good way).  
all i can say is that November 10th can't come fucking fast enough. 

Well I'd agree this is going to be game of the decade... but I suspect that there will be a marginally different opinion from others on this board.
 
Certainly might become the game of the decade for me. Can't say for others. Oh and the trailer was alright. I made my own "trailer" (its a music video actually) not too long ago in my blog. I'm going to update it though with the new trailer stuff.

I don't get that excited that I splooge all over it on the internet and make my display picture the cover art. It's just a game. It's not like we found proof that Jesus is real or that aliens exist. I'm looking forward to playing it and I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch because there's no point until I can actually play it.

Anything that depicts war too realistically is horrific in my eyes. I could never have fun playing such a game.

Game is going to be great.  Biggest game of the year.  It will be up there with Halo and GTA IV sales wise. 

A decade is a long time, and while it might be one of the top FPS titles of the decade, there are too many masterful games in completely different genres to classify any single one as being the absolute best.

It could be, man. It will be the last huge game of the decade for sure. Hopefully the best, but I won't keep my fingers crossed. I don't want to hype it up too much.

If by decade you mean the last ten years, then, maybe. But if you mean in the ten years still to come, then no way, not even in terms of sales. 
 
I find it all very subjective, though. It's pretty easy to call a game that comes out now the best game of the past decade, considering that games generally get better as time goes by. In another two years we'll be calling something else the game of the decade.

It's a great game but it's not that good, not the campaign anyway...

It will no doubt be a huge game for this year, but NO WAY will it be the game of the decade. Such comments are rather stupid actually. It's almost like saying a game is the 'BEST GAME EVER MADE' which is simple crap. 
 
Wasn't Halo 3 meant to be the game of the decade in 2007? Point made! Sure the game will be good but it's technically still Call of Duty, which hasn't changed in any great degree since the original all those years back. So no, it won't be the game of the decade because there is no game of the decade. 

I watched a friend play thru start to finish and it is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Its hilarious some PC users are skipping out on this one because the story is so phenomenal its worth more than $60 alone.

To me it's just another damned war game with some epic set pieces in the single player and some good ideas in the multiplayer.

Game is going to kick ass, but honestly there was more hype for World of Warcraft and Halo 2 and 3 than MW2.
