Great article and some good points in the comments!

As a one time XBLIG developer, I definitely see the potential of a more iOS like marketplace for home consoles, especially given all of the bad things (certification, slots, etc) you hear from the broader indie developer community. I really hope that Microsoft takes note of this somewhat high-profile declaration, I believe it represents the thoughts of the broader developer community.

Imagine if the Xbox 720 had only one (1) store, just like the iOS App Store. It would be really interesting. One could argue that it would eliminate big publisher support for the platform. While this is probably true, big publishers still submit games to the iOS App Store.

As a side note, I really hope Microsoft does not abandon the XNA Framework, it's extremely good.

After watching Load our last save, I had to dig up my old PC games and played trough Freedom Fighters start to finish. Didnt remember how short the game actually is and the controls are much better with keyboard and mouse (of course..) Still fun little game and I wish there was a chance for a proper sequel someday.

What operating system did you play it on? When I'm trying to play it on Windows 7 it runs way too fast; I've pretty much tried all suggested solutions I've found out there without success.

I prefer the PC version too (when it works :) but it doesn't have a multiplayer mode, I would love to try it.

While I love the site, I never thought GB would "be the type/have the guts" to cover this game, AWESOME!

Thanks for a great article and for questioning whether games only could or should be the interactive equivalent of hollywood blockbuster action movies.

Evening everyone!

The game just passed peer review a couple of hours ago and it is now available on the Xbox Live Indie Games channel! After about 2 years of work it is finally released, I feel relieved and extremely happy that I was able to finish such a big project at all.

Overall, I am happy with how the game turned out and I hope people will like it! Here is a link to my website with more information about the game: http://gustavolsson.squarespace.com/ Please post your feedback if you play it!

(Not sure if this should be posted to the forums or not since I only talk about my own game in this post, if a mod thinks it shouldn't, please just remove it from the forums.)

Hello everyone!

I haven't been very active in the GB community (I'm usually a lurker when it comes to communities), but I have been enjoying the content of the site very much, it is easily the best site covering video games out there. I signed up for the site the day it launched and have listened to/watched pretty much every Bombcast and Quick Look to date (I came from On the spot and the early Arrow pointing down podcasts introduced me to the format, I still haven't found anything as good as the Bombcast though :)

My name is Gustav and I'm a hobbyist/indie game developer. I usually work on projects in my free time while studying but since the last year has been my gap year, I've been able to work a lot more than usual. I have decided to start writing about what I am working on from time to time in my profile, to hopefully get some feedback and reach a somewhat wider audience than my friends and the other game developers I usually talk to.

Right now I am about to release my first major game ever, a multiplayer kart racer called "Seaside Racing". I started working on it in the beginning of 2009 using a physics engine I had started working on a couple of months earlier. It was meant to be a small game to test out the physics engine.. it turned out to be a huge project that took me almost 2 years to finish :)  Here is a screenshot of the finished game. I'm very happy with how it turned out and I've learnt a lot from the project, the most important thing being that you should always plan creative projects ahead, at least have some idea of what you are aiming for and what the most ambitious scenario for the project would look like (I did close to no planning before I started working on the game).

Anyway, I have submitted the game to peer review for the Xbox Live Indie Games channel, so please keep an eye on the channel and please post your opinions and feedback on the game if you play it!
