Hey all,

I have a sibling who lives on the opposite coast, and would like nothing more for their birthday/xmas (Dec 24 birthdays suck ;) than some simple gift cards, etc. I've always hated giving a simple card, and I know she enjoys Animal Crossing, so I've hit upon the idea of burying her "gift" - i.e. an in-game letter with a redemption code on it - somewhere in my town. Not being an AC expert, I need to know the following:

• if my 3DS is left running in AC:NL, and my sister is on my friends list, can she enter my town without any interaction on my end?
• can strangers enter my town while I leave it running, potentially digging up said treasures? :)
• can you bury letters? Are they persistent? maybe I'll lead her on a merry chase around town or something
• is this a disaster waiting to happen because i am missing some vital information??

I like the reality show idea :) I feel like Dominatrix was playing with that idea a bit. I thought I read the next one will go in a totally new direction or reboot, which makes me sad :(

Got bored and answered my own question: you can contact Nintendo customer support to have purchases moved, provided you have registered your old system.

Still, what a backwards system...

Crap - I was so stoked about the new 3ds i hadn't considered Nintendo's crappy digital track record :( What's the story if your DS no longer boots and is out of warranty? Sure they have some method to transfer purchases to a new unit?

I'd like to try the voice recognition on the new Kinect. My experience with it's last-gen cousin invariably devolved into:

Looks neat, and I hadn't heard of it at all until I saw this thread. Interest piqued. However, Q1 2014 is going to be absolutely nuts for releases - and @project343 points out some good caveats.

Something very, very important will be missing from the GOTY deliberations and videos this year. Maybe the guys should just release their lists and take a year off from zanyness :(
