Steam and UPlay are both iggypoptart. Digging it so far, despite it's shortcomings.

Picked it up on PC. The campaign alone is pretty fun. Played a little 2 Stadium back in the day and it was cool and crazy and all those other things people like about Trackmania. I'll miss the Cher remixes and Christmas dubstep, but I really like how easy this one is to get into. Also, the local multiplayer stuff is a great addition. Hopefully they figure out a better way to handle online level sharing though, it's kind of a mess rn.

I got in on the first wave of Rift pre-orders so I'm sticking with it for the time being. Room-scale is rad! But I just don't think I have the space to mount lighthouses and think that the content won't be there for room-scale until gen 2 tbh. Plus, for just seated/standing stuff the screen, ergo, and built-in sound appeal to me a lot more on the Rift. I have a nice set of cans, but including an extra wire in the mix doesn't sound good to me.

The last 3 years of VR development has been for seated/standing experiences and the Rift has more software so that's where I am for this first gen of VR. Honestly, if all I get out of it is Technolust, Chronos, Elite: Dangerous and VR Cinema I'll feel justified.

I've been debating nabbing a PSVR as well, mostly because of the amount of software they're toting for this year, but I'm unsure if I'll get in on the pre-order. We'll see how it goes Tuesday I guess. I'll be interested in seeing how much crossover there is software-wise between the PC HMDs and the PSVR.

I'll join in. As someone who is constantly making lists, I really like the idea for this giveaway thread. Thanks for the opportunity to share my taste lol. My top 3:

1. Persona 4

2. ToZ: A Link to the Past

3. Metal Gear Solid 2

Lol I had already spent an hour and half making two characters on Uno before seeing the updates in this thread. Didn't save the templates either -_- I really wish they would've just done one megaserver with a bunch of channels instead of fragmenting it like this. Also I was being dumb and testing possible family names thinking it would ask me to confirm... and now my family name is locked in as "Keanu."

@brotherbran: Poll sounds like a good idea. I don't mind moving servers if that's what the majority is into. Might wait to remake my dude until tomorrow though if we do go somewhere else.

@brotherbran: Yeah, there is actually a lot of cool stuff to do aside from PvP/GvG once you get to 50. Definitely intrigued by some of the bosses too! But yeah, we probably won't get to guild status for a bit, because of the cost/level 50 requirement. What name you want to go with? The classic "Giant Bomb/Bombers" or some dank GB meme name? Either way I'll hopefully see you on Uno tomorrow. Not sure how much I'll be able to play either, but looking forward to it!

@belegorm: Congrats! I think might go Berserker/Giant and a Valk as well. Here's a really cool template site for characters if you want something to start with. If you like one you can even import it and then modify your character from there. I think it'll definitely cut down a lil on my character creation time. I'm definitely one of those people who can spend 2 hours tweaking and BDO's creator is making my head spin already.

@brotherbran: After a bit of reading on the forums and the subreddit it seems Orwen and Edan are pretty evenly split in terms of pop and there seems to be a fair amount of big PvP guilds in each. Uno still seems to be slightly less-populated because it was announced like 24 hours before the pre-order access went live, so most of the guilds that had already planned out which server to go to didn't even have Uno as a choice in the planning stage.

I usually like a lower pop. server because in past experience there's more chance for notoriety/tight-knit community, BUT like @jimmyw404 was saying PvP, casual or hardcore, is the "main" endgame. So, all 3 servers should suffice for both PvE and eventual PvP. Especially since this game is just now launching in NA/EU and they've had sales in the hundreds of thousands. All the servers should have a fair amount of people and offer all playstyles.

I might try to wake up early before work and see how the servers are doing with wait times, stability, etc., but I'm personally the most interested in Uno, because I'm a weirdo that likes smaller servers/I think it'd be best for casual play. Like I want to fight other humans, but I also don't want to get griefed while fishing.

Edit: Here's a Guild Index for the NA servers and here's a server selection poll/discussion, so everyone can get a general idea of the distribution. I would definitely rec Uno or Edan. After some more reading through the forum/subreddit there seems to be a lot of guilds going specifically to Orwen for "ez kills" because it's the unofficial RP server... Not a choice favorite imo.

I would definitely be interested in a guild or at least partying up if there's not enough initial interest here. Not a huge MMO guy either, but the focus on combat, crafting, and sandbox have me intrigued. I get easily bored of the traditional theme park-style MMOs, so BDO's old-school "find your own path" nature really adds in the mystery and potential I feel is missing from most modern MMOs. Also, the combat is basically like a more complex Dragon's Dogma and it's real pretty to boot.

What server are planning on playing on? I was thinking maybe Uno, since Orwen is the RPing server and Edan is where all the hardcore PvP people are going. Might need to do some research and see what the server's are like now that there's been ~3 days of people playing early.

@rorie: Actually super the opposite! You can get to the soft cap of level 50 (where most pvp happens) in around 15-20 hours. There's actually a group of people who got in early with the pre-order bonus and got to level 50 in just 8 hours. The game does incentivize alts, which can definitely increase playtime. Obviously that's completely optional, though! And of course the usual grinding for materials/crafting/etc., but the game is very focused on combat and pvp, so grinding to get to the "competitive level" isn't too much of a time investment.

This game is rad. It was my 5th favorite game from last year. Turing was low key best new character of the 2015.

How do you grip your mouse?

No Caption Provided

You should be basing your purchase on that primarily. I'm mostly a palm guy so I use a Mionix Naos 7000 and it's definitely my endgame mouse. Great sensor, even better ergonomics. But! It totally doesn't work if you use claw/fingertip. So figuring out your preferred grip is important imo. For claw I really like the Zowie FKs or the Mionix Castor.
