@rorie: Yeah, the book has a reputation of hard to read in English. Don't think the Chinese original has the same problem, though hard sci-fi has its own cartoon style.
Looked at the long words Ken Liu chose and thought "He is on one al'right."
@capt_blakhelm: The Chinese characters read "nv zhuang da liao", in Mandarin. Yeah, a bloody mouthful for English speaker or people who are not fluent in Chinese. On the surface, it means cross dresser, in that direction. But the cultural context being when those four are used, cross dressers are presented as circus novelty. Hence, a cynical practice.
Thanks for highlighting my rathe self-indulging blog. It's not my best and would see some editing in the future as the following 6 parts coming up. Guess I would tear myself from reading Witch In the Holy Night to finish this fight.
@zombiepie: Playing through Fate/Stay Night after watching every animated adaption makes me realize what a good little corporate lap dog Ufotable is to Type Moon. Back in April, 2012, they added that one shot of Joan of Arc into Fate/Zero just to tease Fate/Apocrypha volume one, a book came out that December. Then in April and June, 2015, they extended Caster going rogue and added an epilogue to UBW, just to tease that detective series started in December, 2015. Suppose that's one of reasons why miHoyo chose them to adapt their Metaverse nightmare.
As someone who still cared about this series back in 2010, I still find the direction God of War 3 went for disappointingly safe and boring. Bloodbath on Mount Olympus sounded exciting with 2's cliffhanger ending in 2007, then Santa Monica took all the excitment out with the abilitease approach.
