What kind of game do you like? Take a look at videos of both games.
Personally I would recommend LBP, it's both a relaxing and a fun game that everyone can enjoy. It has great co-op/multiplayer too if you like to play together with friends.

p.s: Just thought I'd mention there is a sequel coming soon for both of those games.

Castle Crashers is out now, it is pretty good. I guess it doesn't really fit the platformer description you asked but since you listed shank, cc is pretty similar to that.

I would recommend Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and God of War 3.  Either one will have you in awe by the amazing works put out by its developers.

It is always a sad day when a game company (software/hardware) decides to increase its profit at the expense of its customers and the CUSTOMERS oblige by staying loyal to a brand name that cares little about them.

I consider the end boss to be False King Allant, not the creepy crawly in the old one.

I rather they work on a sequel than some DLC that should have came with the game in the first place.

If the last archstone is meant to be broken during the designed process I can totally understand. Plus I don't think Atlus is trying as hard as EA when it comes to emptying our wallets.

1. Uncharted 2 - A masterpiece. Don't really need any other description.
2. Demon's Souls - My first console action RPG. A great but somewhat poorly designed storyline. Cool level designs. Tons of customization. "New game plus" and unique items gives many incentives for replays.
3. Killzone 2 - Its graphics pushed me to buy a ps3. A pretty satisfying campaign. Great multilayer. Feels like the "man" of FPS's.
4. God of War 3- Representing its genre's best. The first level alone is more eye-popping than the previous two installments. Like many others, I was put in constant awe by the spectacular artworks of violence.
5. Heavy Rain - After my playthrough I felt satisfied. Expect it to be a mature game and it will reward the patient player with a experience that is unique and different.

Notable mention: Red dead redemption - Great environments. Great campaign overall. Somewhat lacking multilayer.

I agree with what you said about end game in wow. I too have intentions sometimes to do what you are about to and start fresh. The problem i think is it all sounds good in theory, having fun your own way, but the game of wow is designed to push players towards its "end game". Unless one is willing to not participate in it entirely, everyone eventually end up grinding daily quests and raiding for emblems. I had one of my best gaming experiences playing wow as a newbie, but after 2 lvl 80's and countless alts, all the magic of wow introduced to me was gone and all that it is left is my addiction to the game. I quit almost six months ago, i have urges to go back every once a while, but I know its only because i remembered the fun i had with the game, and had forgotten how much i disliked the endgame.
