This is a list of games I got months or even years after everyone has stopped thinking about them, but that I enjoyed so much that I wish I had played them the instant they got out. It can be anything from old console games that predates me, or it can be big AAA titles I just overlooked or couldn't afford.
Man. Sure, it was short. Sure, it had a limited sense of gameplay. But boy, was it good. I was hooked immediately, hints about the entire family flew over my head only to suddenly make sense when another hint came along. The art used throughout was great, the music pretty damn good and the voice acting was stellar. Several frisson moments. I love you Gone Home. I wish I played you sooner.
When I write this it's a long time since I actually played it, but I remember liking it a lot more than I thought I would. One of my first "damn, why didn't I play this sooner!" I can think of from the top of my head. If you like silly shooting, over the top swearing (Hey, dicktits!) and a funny story, this is for you!
Wow. I just beat one timeline of this when I write this, and I must say, this is a great game. Gameplay is great, love the ability to stealth, shoot and go completely bonkers with dual-wielding assault rifles. Graphics are outstanding. Music so good I want to listen to it outside of the game. And the story is actually pretty damn good. Also love the way Blazkowicz is shown. A gruff, military grunt, with the saddest eyes and tormented thoughts. Easily on my top ten list for 2014.
