@the_laughing_man: In a sense, I believe resources drain at a slow rate and your characters recover stamina and health. I think injured characters also have a chance to come back. Also projects get completed. Didn't think people could die when you aren't playing though...
And I think that's why I'm liking the game so much. The only real issue I'm having with the game is guns. First of all, they seem pointless in the first place (except in VERY few circumstances) because if you shoot a zombie, it makes noise, and they keep coming. This wouldn't be so bad if it was just 5 or 6, but they seem to continually spawn for quite a while. I did one of the "take this angry guy out and kill a zombie with him" missions and I shot one of them on the way to the mission area and we ended up getting attacked by a stream of zombies for 5-10 minutes (there were no hordes or infestations nearby, I checked). I guess maybe that's realistic? I dunno, just makes firearms seem kind of pointless.
Also, the way they handle is kind of a pain, some sort aim snap would be nice.
I've played 2-3 hours of it. I usually tire of zombie games quick because I'm less interested in story and combat than I am in survival, as such I've been enjoying State of Decay. As others have stated, it's definitely super janky, and it also seems a lot more complicated than I think it is, that said, I like it quite a bit. My only real concern is that the story missions could in fact get in the way of the survival mechanics, but we'll see. Great buy at $20 in any case.
I think it'd be neat if this game had some sort of new game plus where you get to choose a starting character and location, and that drops the story stuff.
Also, as I understand it, the reason the co-op got thrown out was because of the engine they went with for the game. It was originally being planned as local co-op but the engine couldn't handle it, so they scrapped it as they did not have time to work out online multiplayer. The word is that they "hope" to add it via a patch.
So for some reason I never looked in to the original game, but the trailers for the new one are blowing me away. I'm a big fan of grand RTS games (such as the Total War series) so this seems up my alley. My main question is this: Is it worth playing the original BEFORE I get this game? I've heard that it's incredibly complex, so I'm thinking it might be easier to start with the original, it's also cheaper, and you get a discount on the new one if you have it... At the same time though, those trailers are REALLY purty.
@jnal Well the old fashioned combat is still there, but they added a "shooter mode" that I think is much more fun. It's still a little janky, but it's pretty simple to use and you can switch to it on the fly, so it works in my opinion.
Just re-installed and rolled up a new Fed, I bought a CE at launch and played for 6 months or so, so I should have no problem getting in touch with you duders!
EDIT: Is there a reason that I can't find Space Neon Lobsters in the fleet finder?
EDIT 2: On top of that, I can't even find any of the officers via a person search... There is only one server right?
Didn't see a thread for this so I thought I'd just start one.
These days when I visit the site and click play on a video, 9 times out of 10 the video box turns white and becomes unresponsive. If I refresh the page repeatedly eventually the video will work. Let me know if I can provide more details.
Thanks
EDIT: It appears that it only happens with the streaming player.
