What I Picked Up During the Steam Holiday Sale 2009

Like many other PC gamers, I dropped a lot of money on the steam 2009 sale.  I thought I'd gather all of the games that I bought into a list, so I  could compare what I bought with what others got/enjoyed.  Note that I'm not going to list out the whole Eidos collector's pack, just what I see myself playing in the next few months.

List items

  • Loved the game so much, I figured that I would play it again on my PC. Fighting with a mouse is kind of hard to get used to, but I'm not complaining about the higher resolution/smoother framerate. Also, the inclusion of Games for Windows Live means I can get even more achievement points out of this sucker.

  • Picked up the whole series in the Eidos Collector's Pack, I've always appreciated what the hitman series was going for, but sometimes the trial and error gameplay made me turn it off and switch to something else.

  • Got both games in the Eidos Collector pack. I've never actually played the original Deus Ex, so I thought it would be a good idea to go back and beat it during the holiday break.

  • Best $5 ever spent.

  • had to pick this up when it got mentioned in the top 3 PC games of the year on the Bombcast. I am really liking it as a game I can pick up and play for 15 minutes. The way the three playable characters work with each other, the art direction, and the storybook vibe I get from the narrator are all awesome. another great way to spend 5 bucks.

  • Really liking blowing stuff up in this so far, though if it didn't include achievements I'm not sure that I would ever finish it. A little bit too much open-world jank for me to get super into the story, and the side missions have been pretty repetitive so far, but it's fun to blow shit up.

  • picked up both of the paynes. I've never finished the second one and only played the demo for the original game. I am really interested in what Rockstar is doing with the third game, so I thought I would play through the backstory before the third one comes out.
