I think this is a tough problem for a lot of games now. If you don't have a dedicated group of friends who are willing to play as much as you are, then a lot of people might not be able to play this game.
That said, this game is somewhat similar to Guns of Icarus. That game had the same sort of problem, but you could still play reasonably well without friends. If this game has a decent hud and clearly shows you what you can do then it might be okay.
I like what I've seen so far, but I hope they show off some towns and stuff in the future. I like that there's a "wild," but I hope there's civilization too. In the first showing of the game it implied there'd be farms and stuff that could be attacked by monsters.
Last night I sat down to play some games before bed and it was completely infuriating. Game after game of just the most broken teams I have ever played with. People were constantly leaving, yelling at each other in text chat, and refused to push onto any objective. I would leave after the game ended and get right back into a game with a similar team makeup. I don't think we won a single match.
Finally I charged in as Reinhardt and knocked down their entire team, but my teammates who were just behind me decided to take potshots from outside the gate instead of charge in and get on the point. I died, because the team got back up unchallenged, and then I just quit and went to bed. Didn't even finish that match.
So yeah, this game can get frustrating. Sometimes it just doesn't give you a break, so you gotta take one yourself.
That weight mod was a must for me. I hated the inventory management in that game. Also, I would turn the free DLC on but I wouldn't really seek it out unless you run out of content. The free DLC quests are pretty uninspired compared to the normal quests in that game.
I can't play Junkrat because I can't shake the Demoman's grenade physics. Junkrat's take longer to explode, don't start ticking until they hit the floor, and just have a different feel. None of these are bad things, but I'm just not used to it and it messes with my head, man.
@hermes: I don't think that good dialogue should be a checkbox that has to be ticked in order to be character of the year. If a game can make a good character without needing any dialogue then that's great.
Doom guy is a good character because of the world they built around him. I doubt he's character of the year, but I certainly think he's pretty good. There's also a lot to be said for how he's almost a direct reflection of the person playing the game when it comes to the "fuck all of the shit in this room" attitude. Maybe "Character of the Year" should be like that Time's Magazine cover with the mirror.
@woodyrson: Deadpool relies on humor that is insanely difficult to get right. It genuinely surprised me when so many jokes in that movie landed. I hope we get a yearly Deadpool until we're all tired of it.
