One day when it's on sale I think it'll be worth a purchase. For now I think $60 is too much.

I thought Dan fit in really well with GBE. I was secretly hoping for something like this. I'm glad it worked out this way.

@delor: I have this issue too, but I've found that you can generally fast-forward past the point in the video where it keeps crashing and continue it there. So if it crashes at the same spot, try fast-forwarding a minute or two past that.

Because it's been too long and the demand for walking-turret shooters has mostly dried up. Half-Life has always been a franchise at the forefront of its genre. If they don't have new ideas for HL then they're not afraid to just shelve it.

Also the company is designed so that the employees work on whatever they want. They're all probably just not interested in working on a Half-Life game, so that project just kinda sits there.

I think the line is drawn when there are actual bullet points listed by the developer of things that will be in the game. If those things are removed, that's fine, but that should be communicated before launch. People are buying the game based on what they think is included.

I don't think there was ill-will from the developers on this. I just think that communication was absolutely terrible.

@ghost_cat: When it's out (in like 2 more years).

I was hoping to see an Unfinished but I don't think Drew was able to get it working back when he first tried it. Vinny seems interested in it though so maybe he'll do an unfinished of it.

I'd say the game is far enough along now to do an unfinished but then again it's still sort of a tech demo at this point.

I just bought a PS4 :\

If this is out for the holidays, I wonder if there's a good path for trading up?

Software engineer. I like it a lot. Once I gain some experience I think I'm going to start moving around. I'd like to spend a year or two in a few different places around the world, and it seems like most places need software engineers.

I actually just accepted a new position at an awesome company a week ago. Starting next Monday. They just bought a company working on HoloLense too, so there's the possibility of moving to Seattle sometime in the future and tinkering with that thing.

@blackout62: It's better than doing something you hate under pressure. I will say that, at least in the field I'm in, there's plenty of opportunity to find a good work environment.

I've been telling people to hold off on this game until it's fixed. I feel like it's just a foundation, unfortunately.

Plus the PC port is just awful. It's sluggish, doesn't run at native resolution, filled with bugs, and the flight controls for KB&M are terrible (and can't be changed). It looks on-par or worse than the PS4 version, which is pretty unacceptable at this point. The pop-in is also enough to make my eyes hurt. Also, try changing it to Low - you won't notice much different between that and High.

I agree that the game itself needs more work (inventory, more gameplay of some kind)... but something isn't right with the rest of your experience, I can tell you it runs in native resolution (and DSR for higher super-sampled resolutions), and the graphics are WAY better than PS4, including nearly unlimited draw distance (not quite though, there is an edge where the game is generating the planetary content in the distance it seems but it's 10x better than the PS4 pop-in). I would check your drivers (clean install the latest) and overclocks, if you have them. It almost sounds like your graphical settings are stuck at low or medium...

Apparently it's a "bug," but the game's internal resolution does not always get set to the native resolution. That's why there's mods to fix it. Also the draw distance is fine, it's the pop-in that drives me insane. It's constantly loading stuff right in front of me and it fades in with this terrible noisy-looking effect that just looks super ugly. It honestly looks like I'm running it on Lowest with a dying graphics card.

I'm trying the experimental build now and it's better but still way below standard.
