Ad hominem. Doesn't impress me.

The hell? I thought I was done addressing one Philistine in this thread and then here comes chiablo stumbling into this thread with his nonsense rant.

Chiablo; where are you getting that 300% figure from? I want citations. Read up the article that I linked to believer whatever in the post below yours. You haven't educated yourself to know that if the healthcare package that you are shopping for is too costly for you to afford then the government will subsidize your health care plan up to the point that you only pay for 1/10th of the original cost.

As for the rest of your post, you don't understand what tyranny means. Passing a governmental law through which alleviation of toil and poverty is one step closer to becoming reality by distributing burden among all is not tyranny. Its called progress.

@believer258: obama's compromised plenty of times in the past. The compromises offered now are no more than delays of Obamacare by different names.

I'm angry that someone could watch this shitshow and believe it isn't the republicans fault 95% (and the reason it's partially the dem's fault is they've been too soft before). Right now, the republicans are scrambling because their poll numbers have been down since the shutdown started, so obviously the public is aware that they shut down the government and would almost let the country default because they don't like a bill.

Plus, technically, since the dollar is the reserve currency (I don't know much about this butI've heard smarter people than me talk about it) our debt going up isn't actually the worst thing in the world.

And I'm angry that this whole shitshow is happening in the first place.

Again, no politician with a brain on his shoulders would let this sort of thing happen for no good cause. I'm not siding with the Republican tactic of "shut the whole thing down", but I simply cannot agree with the healthcare plan that this whole ruckus seems to be centered around. It's far too damaging to the little guy that wakes up at 6 AM, works for 8 hours a day, and comes home to try and sort out his money to make ends meet, usually with a few prayers under his breath because half the time it doesn't. It's also pretty damaging to the US economy as a whole. I'm no economist nor a politician, but I don't think that any country can continue to pile on debt after debt after debt and then take on a several extra billion dollars at once. Thus, the finger is pointed just as much at Democrats as it is at Republicans. This country is in terrible shape and everyone is arguing over something as stupid as a fucking health care bill. Where are the full-time permanent jobs? Why is the middle class still shrinking? Why is the cost of living going up? Aren't those things more important than a healthcare bill that just makes things worse?

You have no idea what Affordable care act is all about, do you? ACA is actually projected to reduce our national deficit by 200 billion in the next 10 years, according to CBO. Oh, and the imaginary person that you are describing in your post is just that, imaginary. Read this and then maybe you will begin to grasp what ACA means for the "little person". PS: if your income is so low that 8% of it can't cover a mandated health care package; you are exempt from ACA.

@k9:

Is there any practical reason for those huge flashcards other than theatrics?

They all do it for the C-SPAN cameras. And yes, political theater too.

Everyone needs to see this:

Basically the federal government can't reopen now until the GOP says so.

Here is some detailed information, now in video form, of what would happen if the U.S. government were to default on its debt come October 17.

So we're moving into Day 3 over here. If my experiences in gaming have taught me nothing, it's that we need to flee from this country before the moon crashes down or play the Song of Time (assuming someone has the Ocarina of Time (Dear God, does anyone have it!?)). Anyway, when do you think this is gonna be over? Or if it doesn't, when does anarchy reign supreme?

The longest a government shut down has lasted was a bit over two weeks I believe. As social order actually breaking down, well, think about it this way. Within the first week, the biggest issue that we'll have is the fallout from a million federal employees suddenly staying home. Cab drivers get less customers, restaurants lose out on a lunch crowd, stuff like that. Federal programs like the WIC that helps provide nutrition for low-income mothers and their newborns are also getting affected, so immediate impact can also be felt there.

Give it a bit more time however, and the problem compounds quickly. Things like student, business, and home loans that may need to go through some form of federal screening will get backed up. Tax refunds and other IRS related things will get backed up. Come November 1st, the first social security checks won't get mailed out, and it keeps going.

All of this of course is ignoring the potential for a rather large self-inflicted economic wound come the next debt ceiling debate.

Ouch.

What happens if the government doesn't raise the debt ceiling by October 16th? Does the dollar become as worthless as pre-World War 2 German currency?

Beyond that, what happens if the government stays shut down until, say, January?

The effect will be disastrous for the world's economy. If the shutdown continues even until October 24th then for the first time U.S. government will default on paying interests on its loans. U.S. currency will run the risk of losing its status as the de - facto world currency. Plus, lots of other yet unforeseen consequences.

Tried watching bad Milo as it is one of the few listed movies I haven't had yet seen. Garbage movie. Don't trust the list any more.

Man I don't know about this, I mean controllers are practically perfect as they are, I don't see any need to change what works.

This controller is designed for RTS and other Keyboard-Mouse heavy games that current crop of controllers simply cannot be mapped onto. From the looks of it you won't be able to play digital movement heavy games like Super meatboy but playing SC 2 while sitting on a couch might now be a possibility.

Every time Brad talks on the bombcast he sounds like he doesn't want to be there anyways; blaming his sleepiness/lack of enthusiasm on the food that he just ate. This has been going on for years now. Rorie is a fantastic replacement for Brad.
