New RAM can very well be bad, you should test it.
I built a new PC back in October and started getting random reboots a few months later.
Tested the RAM with MemTest86+ and found one of my sticks were defective.
Just cuz it's new doesn't mean it's OK.

"
I'll look into that, thanks. How do you use it?

" Wow...  You went to geek squad, got your wallet raped (how much?) and they didn't clean it?  Also what's your processor? Maybe the processor isn't agreeing with your RAM. "
These are the stats of my computer's processor:

Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) 64 Processor 3800+ 2.40 GHz

" Should go into the PC forums :)  Bad ram can easily cause trouble, so if it continues I would have them replace it.  I always recommend going to a local computer store rather than Best Buy, but I know lots of people don't have any nearby.  As for steam - Torchlight runs on most computers easily, and there is always Max Payne. "

The RAM itself shouldn't be bad. I took care to get it from a recommended website and followed all the instructions to make sure it was the right kind.  Also, if a mod could come swoop by and put this in the PC forum, that'd be great.

I should also mention that the Geek Squad fee was covered by someone other than me, that was the only reason I agreed to do it.

Hello Giantbombers! I am in the need for some PC help as I seem to be having a serious problem today regarding my newly upgraded PC. The old RAM on this computer used to be a lowly 512 mb and I wanted to give it a massive upgrade to hopefully play a few Steam games, even if I do have to settle for the old as dirt ones. Well I took it up to Geek Squad, had my wallet raped, and they installed my 2GB RAM chip-thingy-majigger (I'm already showing off my vast knowledge of PC products) and I took it home to boot up steam and try out a few demos.

Except my computer has been randomly shutting down ever since. The guy at the store told me it was real dusty in there and that I should clean it out on a regular basis, which I just did, but I was wondering if this could be contributed to any other factor than dust if this continues? I should note that I did take care to get the correct RAM for my computer model and didn't just mix and match random things. If you have any suggestions, I'd gladly hear them.

PS: Rec me some old, easily runnable steam games that still stand up today?

So I'm not real certain on the difference in combat in this game compared to Golden Sun and Golden Sun II but I'm really excited for the return of everyone's favorite elemental sprites, the djinn

What are some expectations you guys have for the new game? I never finished the second Golden Sun, so I'll probably read up on the story as I won't bother playing through all of it, but I really hope there is prominent reference to the original protagonists of Golden Sun. I was a little disappointed in the party change between the games, even if it was interesting to see it from a different perspective. I last heard that the protagonists of Dark Dawn are the descendants of the original cast, do you think this will be played on too heavily?

Regardless of concerns, I am stoked for my favorite part of the previous games. The different combinations of djinn that allowed you to have awesome and creative spells for your characters, I always really enjoyed being inventive with that system.

If anything Obsidian made a name for itself by making good follow up games to existing franchises.  Like what they did with KOTOR 2. "
Which was a broken game that was riddled with bugs.
