This is the most petty, stupid complaint for a game ever, but I can't keep it bottled up inside anymore...

I think the first game's snowy setting (and the winter clothing as gear) was a hell of a lot more striking than this game. This just looks like a generic urban shooter to me. Division 1 had a look that jumped out IMO.

Will still play it with friends, but it's lost a lot of character with just that one change IMO.

Not stupid at all, because I feel the same exact way. The snowy landscape just looked so beautiful and serene. Had a nice calm about it.

Finally, someone on Giant Bomb talked about preferring 30fps as cinematic without getting laughed at.

They should have, because it absolutely isn't. I still can't believe there are people that somehow convince themselves that 30fps is better then 60.

The online stuff (with friends at least) is nowhere near as complicated as these guys make out. SOS flares are for playing with randoms only! Playing with friends is pretty straightforward once your'e all in the same session. The cut scene thing is dumb though.

This. Like yes it needs to be improved, but they exaggerate it so damn much. Just start a session and give them the session codes. Done.

I love it when these threads fill up with people demanding to "take politics out of mah gaemes" then when everyone asks them why it turns out they're just struggling with the idea of art making them think. Anyway, it's a bummer but not surprising to see that Far Cry 5 is pretty bland and uses America as new set dressing but not much else. I was hoping to see them leverage being in a 1st world country to actually change up the gameplay or story.

And did Jeff land on a friggin' moose with that car?!

Not everybody wants that though? Politics are EVERYWHERE. There's nothing wrong with wanting to play something and just forgetting all that nonsense.

COOL! Wasted a bunch of money on this game. My friends and I didn't like the shallow gameplay, so we decided to get a refund after about an hour of playtime. So, Microsoft Store has a NO REFUND POLICY for ALL digital downloads. I even talked to a person (Being cordial, of course, since I know the customer service person doesn't deserve the hate), and was still denied. Well I hope it's worth it for them. I spend tons of money on games and Microsoft products (we own many, many computers), but they're gonna throw away all that good will for $60. Never buying another Microsoft product again.

So...you wanted a refund despite a very clear no refund policy and you're upset? *thinking emoji*

Anyways this game turned out pretty much how I expected. There's nothing to it. I'm sure a ton of fun with friends and it'll be a fun stream game for a short bit, nothing more.

The harshness of this game just seems way over tuned.

That mist monster was cool though.

@kishinfoulux: regarding the Zorah armour. It does become upgradable at a point doesn’t it? I just made the helm and was bummed it was at max as it’s starting Defense value wasn’t any better than my upgraded legania. I just assumed it would be upgradable later. If not probably won’t bother with the rest of the set.

Eventually everything is able to be upgrade to 70 DEF so you can basically wear what you want.

Vinny is so excited to explain the Charge Blade to Dan...lol.

More Monster Hunter content please!

@danryckert For the Zorah armor it's maxed out from the get go. It's a solid starter set for HR. The others you can mostly upgrade though. That's just an early exception.

@brad The Charge Blade is easily my favorite weapon. I was struggling with it until I watched Arekkz's Charge Blade Tutorial. Seriously, it will change your life.

After some experimentation I've come up with what I think is a pretty good way to get into the flow of the Charge Blade (I'm on Xbox so you may have to convert to PlayStation):

  1. sword and shield mode: charge the sword
    1. B (hold) > Y + B | charged double slash > shield thrust (this seems to be the fastest way to charge the sword)
    2. Y > Y > Y > B (hold) > Y + B | weak slash > return stroke > spinning slash > charged double slash > shield thrust (just a longer combo if you have time to use it)
  2. sword and shield mode: charge phials (transfer the energy from the sword to the phials)
    1. RT + B
  3. sword and shield mode: charge the sword a second time
  4. axe mode: transfer the energy from the phials to the shield (the shield charge lasts 2.5 minutes)
    1. RT + Y | morph slash (if you're in sword and shield mode)
    2. Y + B > RT | amped element discharge (canceled at peak windup with RT) > elemental roundslash
  5. sword and shield mode: charge phials again (using the energy in the sword from step 3)
    1. RT + B

Now you have a fully charged Charge Blade.

Charging the sword again (step 3) before transferring the energy from the phials into the shield (step 4) eliminates spending some of the 2.5 minute shield charge time on charging the sword. The sword is already charged and ready to go (step 5).

You've stored all that energy so you can do the super amped element discharge:

  1. sword and shield mode
    1. Y + B (3 times) | forward slash > shield thrust > super amped element discharge
  2. axe mode
    1. Y + B | super amped element discharge

Some additional tips:

A charged shield provides additional defense, and also does additional damage when shield thrusting and when used as the axe head in axe mode.

You can use up the charged phials while in axe mode to do additional damage:

  1. B > B > B | element discharge I > element discharge II > amped element discharge

I hope this helps!

Congrats you just ensured that Brad will never play Charge Blade after this mile of text...lol.
