@darth_navster: Yeah well I think the weight of public and media opinion is firmly with you there. I guess in some ways it depends how much those things have the capacity to bother you. Like, I see some of the issues you are talking about (though I'm playing on PS4 so it's a different kettle of fish all together), but I guess in some ways I'm still just so impressed by what it is that the game can make me feel, that I almost don't care about the hitching etc. There's a scene in the film Existenz where everybody just kinda glitches out because of some scripting error or something (I dunno it was a long time ago man! :)) and it always reminds me of that. I think there's something uniquely charming about the imperfections in games and as long as they don't prevent me from progressing then I generally don't mind them!

So did you just mainline the story quests here or did you do much of the side stuff too? I still haven't touched the main story since I met my old robot butler thing outside the old house....

I'm only 15 or so hours in, but I'm enjoying it. I enjoy it in the exact same way I did 3, NV and Skyrim and that is perfectly fine with me. Sure, it's not blowing my mind, but it lets me lose myself in the depths of some decrepit old factory and that is exactly what I want.

There's been a lot of talk about people being disappointed by the story, but has anybody ever actually enjoyed a Bethesda story? Personally, I always divert off the main story quest the first chance it gives me and generally only engage with it when I feel I am hitting something of a wall. They have never been good at telling stories and that has never really diminished the quality of their games, so I don't really see what the issue is here!
