Games are priced stupidly high right now in Canada. Games used to have parity price wise with the states at around $59.99 until just recently. Now everything has gone up to $79.99 as standard. It's crazy.

It's what happens when 10 years of an Albertan Prime Minister ties our dollar solely to a collapsing oil economy. 60 USD = ~80 CAD (also 399 = ~540), it's just a shame that when the dollar rebounds they won't roll the price back to parity now that they've gotten away with the increase.

@konig2540: The game is all about the puzzles and nothing at all like Gone Home. So in your comparison it seems much more like Fez. If you want to know more about it I recommend reading some reviews, it's been getting near universal praise.

Awesome thanks. I've been sorta trying to avoid detailed explanations of what the game is (I know that sounds hypocritical given my critique in my comment haha) but just wanted a LITTLE bit more info on IF there was more to the game than simply maze puzzles on a cool island. If it "goes places" like Fez did, I'm sold.. maybe not 40 bucks (again dirt poor) but I am intrigued.

I wish @brad wouldn't have spent 30 minutes trying to talk around what the game is, because I was left knowing absolutely nothing about the game other than the fact that it "has stuff" and "goes places" whatever that is supposed to mean.

As far as I can tell from the Quick Look, it's 700 variations on maze puzzles.

Does it "go places" beyond increasingly complex maze puzzles, or is that it?

Is there anything to distinguish it from other puzzle games like The Talos Principle or Infinifactory?

As someone that wasn't that impressed with Braid (I finished it in a few hours without any difficulty at all) this Quick Look does nothing to build intrigue for the game, or tell me why it's worth $40.

And I'm not saying that a puzzle game can't be worth $40, I'm just not seeing what makes this one special.

Essentially saying "I'm not going to tell you anything about this game, you just need to play it." is fine if it's free and my only investment is the time it takes to play, but it's $40.

And it's not the first time. Any time Brad seems to really like a game, he never seems to talk about why it's a good game or what makes it interesting, he just spends the Quick Look avoiding talking about it, while repeatedly stating how good it is.

You couldn't jump into a later save even just to show off a single puzzle to give us an idea of how the difficulty ramps up, or what changes to make it so impressive?

This is kind of how I felt about this Quick Look too... I love Brad, I also loved Braid... that being said, I'm poor as fuck and would like to know a bit more about the game I'm potentially getting into for $40 ($45 Canadian actually). I understand why they never bring price-point into reviews and opinions on games, but that's also really easy to detach when you seldom pay for games, as appears to be the norm for big video game websites.

If the game is actually 80+ hours long, a little bit of insight into more of what this game is would be cool and also not very spoiler-y. For example, had I not been aware of the furor regarding Gone Home's value for what it was, I would've been furious after paying 20 dollars for it even though I really did enjoy that game after Steam put it to $3.50 (what it was worth to me on my budget). Is there more to this than just a long ass puzzle game with shit-hard puzzles?

With Brad's Destiny love even with how little that game offers (at least at launch), trusting his word on this game without any more information as to what it is has me a little wary. That being said, I did love both Brothers and Ori... fuck. Help me @brad, does this game go places like Fez (complex crazy puzzles) or Gone Home (unexpected depth to a story)?! Give me a video game analogy to help my decision making process!!

Vinny's voice sounded like Dave Lang.

So happy I'm not the only one that heard that.

The streams have been crossed. \m/ is the constant.

I for one hope Giant Bomb eventually has that as a concept, and we can find all the games that feature the magnificent \m/ in one place
