I usually don't lose it over GOTY, but PUBG winning Best Surprise over Sonic Mania is bananas, and Resident Evil 7 not even making the list is even more bananas. A good Resident Evil game coming out of modern Capcom, also a good VR game? Way more surprising than a game based on and made by the same person who made a popular mod of Arma III, a niche game to be sure but one with a die-hard following and a vibrant mod scene, being a good game.
Sure, its massive success is surprising so far as any game being that successful is surprising, but I feel as if the crew is mainly surprised due to the fact that the scene of people who are very into playing and streaming games like Day Z, Ark, etc is not on their radar, so much that they've made videos based on not knowing anything about Ark. Which is fine! They can't be completely up on everything. But for Alex to say that "basically no one" cared about the Battle Royale mod is one of the absolute hottest takes I've heard about video games in a long time. Lawbreakers is a game that basically no one cares about, it doesn't even have enough concurrent players to fill up a single Battle Royale game. If your mod requires around 100 people for a match and it retains an active community up until you put out a better version as a standalone game, that is the exact opposite of no one caring. Paid multiplayer shooters with match sizes of 8 people have died out much faster than the Battle Royale mod did.
tl;dr, Sonic Mania should have won, Resident Evil 7 got robbed
You guys need to find a microphone for Jan fast or someone will have to give up their mic for him because his voice is too smooth to be kept off the podcast.
Free aim with the mouse is super jittery and bad. That rocket nonsense has happened to me a ton. Just be glad you didn't accidentally blow up your entire squad on accident!
Also: don't worry too much about dashing once you're in it with the aliens and you need to get someone to good cover or a good angle for a shot for next turn. As long as you're not dashing people into unknown territory you'll be good.

It is incredible that EXALT messed up the research time on the fusion launcher and added ELEVEN DAYS. That's pure XCOM right there.
@winsord I think that's because they were in smoke. SWERY has the dense smoke upgrade which makes the defense bonus as good as full cover, and they probably couldn't see SWERY to take a shot.
@matiaz_tapia: I forgot that the terror level went up there because of ADVENT stuff.
Also, Dan being in charge is precisely why I'm very concerned about her well-being. Hopefully MECs being designed to barrel around like wrecking balls will play to Dan's benefit. He did play pretty competently on the Battleship mission until that cyberdisc showed up and started wrecking house, but that's cyberdiscs for ya.
@mitch0712@blarambleblah: I figure that Vinny giving this much help is fine unless the person who's behind the controls is upset by it. Alex seems like he's genuinely happy to get the help, but I don't know to what extent Abby or Dan is okay with it or not.
It also looks like South Africa's going to pull out of the council unless a miracle happens in the next 3 days. I could have sworn that capturing the outsider dropped the terror level everywhere, but maybe I'm thinking of how XCOM 2 main objectives work.
