Best of 2014

It's been kinda a slow year for games for me. With the definitive editions of games coming out to most of fall games either being pushed back or just broken.

List items

  • Murder simulator 2014. I don't care about those ashes, Pagan Min, the Golden path and I really don't care about 100% of the quest givers in this game. CAN I STRAP C4 TO AN ELEPHANT AND RAMPAGE IT THROUGH A OUTPOST AND WHEN IT DIES CAN I BLOW IT UP MAKING A DISTRACTION TO CLEAN UP THE ON LOOKERS. Co-op is the best feature in the game. I also didn't thin Pagan min was a great villain because he's barely around and when he calls in I'm barely paying attention because I'm too busy hunting down a honey badger. Troy Baker gives a great performance but I honestly don't care. The story in Far Cry games are just there to give you a sense of progression to me. It was better than the last game but still a bunch of characters I don't give two craps about.

But rockWELL it's flawed why is it so high up. BECAUSE IT WAS FUN unlike Destiny. Which I bought, hated and decided not to put on this list. (JABS)

  • Oh hey Fetch. What's that? You're going to give me more of the stuff I liked about Second Son but be more of a character than Delsin? Sure sign me up. Fetch should have been the main protagonist of the larger game. Sure it doesn't have the power switching but neither did Cole in the first infamous. Her story is alot more interesting to me than Delsin's. The arena rooms are alright to get your power fix but I wish both games had a city reset so you can clear them all out again with enemies everywhere than just random battle areas on the map.

  • This freaking game. I swear. It was addictive as Spelunky and reminded me of the DS Castlevania games. I was so happy when I beat it the first time by just grinding many runs. A 110 generations and finally did it. If you have a vita and a short break to take it's this game and Spelunky that will kill a quick 15 minutes. But be warned, One more run turns into 5 more runs then into an hour of your day drained away and a 12 generations later.

  • I'm an addict. The only reason it's on here is because the PS4 version came out this year. Best game to play on a short break.

  • This game improved on most of the gameplay mechanics of infamous 2. The locomotion has been enhanced by a simple dash button. New creative ways to climb up buildings, escape area where you have lost control of the managing the battle at hand. This is also the game I show off to friends when they ask "How much better is the PS4?" I bought it on release and would have wished I had waited for the photo mode because I loved it. The biggest issues was the story.

Oh Delsin you seem to be an okay guy. As always I played through both sides of the infamous system and you know what? I wish they would just get rid of the system. The reason? The characters in the game don't react differently to your actions at all. I have a brother and my brother wouldn't sell me up the river but he would TOTALLY bring up the fact that I kinda murdered a bunch of people when he told me not to. Troy Baker gives a great performance again. Now the interest part of the story was Brooke Augustine and her motives. She wasn't a bad or evil person just really misunderstood in her actions. That is until she does what she does to Delsin. Protections doesn't or shouldn't come with entrapment.

  • The first GG I ever played about Guilty Gear XX on Xbox with my Rival brother Venom in 2007/2008. We played it off the Xbox 360 games store when they put on OG Xbox games on it. I never played one before that ever. Venom and I would play Street fighter Alpha collection and MvC2 up at Seven Studioz when setting up for the night's event. I really enjoyed learning about a new system and a series I missed. Then Street Fighter IV hit and made the second coming of Fighting games happen. I never really got into BlazBlue because of it's overly complicated systems and character specific meters and bars. People talk about SFIV multiple games releases but never the scummy Blazblu ones.

I loved Persona 4 Arena so I got a better relationship with Arc System works. Guilty Gear Xrd is like the guys on the bombcast said, "It's like some kind of dark magic happening by the way this game looks and moves." The gameplay is solid don't get me wrong, but it is the closest we will come to 3d having the frame skipping motion of 2d. It's an amazing game on that and it's solid fighting engine. I just wish when I went online there wasn't a sea of Ky and Sol players. (they are Ryu and Ken of Guilty Gear LOL)

  • So, step on up to the plate, meet your fate

Walkin' straight on into the lion's lair

Fighting game. I wish this game came out earlier this year because Guilty Gear has killed it. I wish it had a bigger community. So now it's just Venom and I playing Golden Arena mode and having fight nights. Curse you Guilty Gear.

  • Balls to the walls action. This is the bioshock of this year. World building, nice story and better gameplay than infinite. It's an old school FPS with all the bravado of the 90s actions. I wish the sound mixing was better than it was. I haven't completed it because I got it around Black Friday and Far Cry 4 has been taking up a lot of my time.

  • Pure Arcade fun. If you have the PS3 version and a arcade/fight stick try it out. It's a blast to play like that.

  • Metal Gear? Okay I wasn't a person who was going to pay 40 buck for a glorified demo. I wait til it was 15 on ps4 and then bought it. I really like MGS4 when they gave me a chance to play (LOL) MGS is one my favorite series because of all the stupid wacky nonsense that goes on in these games. I'm enjoying Metal Gear Scanlon because of just Drews reactions to it.

Now on to this 'Demo', Someone got it. I still have to thank Ryan Payton for helping make MGS play like a modern game. The people at KojiPro have improved on that system to make playing ground zeroes seem like second nature with it's controls.

  • The first game I purchased on my Xbox One. My brother just gave my a xbone: titanfall bundle on my birthday this year. I was a little taken back by it because now I had to buy games for 2 current gen consoles. I've still decided to just buy most of my games on PS4. I enjoyed the quirk game play of STF. Mess up? Rewind replay. I hand fun just stacking chaos on top of chaos.

  • It's been on here since 2009. This will probably be the last one of part IV on my list. Street Fighter V here... we... come.

  • My second game on my Xbone. I was kinda underwhelmed by this game. I was hoping for saint row-ish character customization but got pick this face and build. I was able to play the game as one of my friends 7evenThirty and my fiancee got in on the action also. The game plays good buy there is a lot of stuff I love about the ratchet series that came in and a lot I hate. The auto aim makes not really feel great but the locomotion to get around was great but the shooting is hold the button til they die. But being graphic design/illustrator I loved the visual design of this game. Not so much the faux punkness but just the color, the character designs and animations. It's a fun game flaws and all. A second game would probably add more to it.

  • SOOOO EASY, but I'm glad it was made and he's made a comeback. Sadly like all things not Street Fighter or Monster Hunter at Capcom he will not a sequel or anything else but Merch made for him. RIP Mega Man RIP Strider.
