I haven't been scheduling events because I have no idea what you guys are into at any given moment, to be honest. I have my weird interests, but whenever I talk about making events about that stuff I get a lukewarm response at best. However, I check my PMs and this thread constantly, so if you have suggestions about events you'd like to run you can send them my way and I'll see what I can do!

I think running one for a quarter would be good. I had a ton of fun with the last server, and I'd love to see us rally around a new one! Obviously the interest is going to spike fast and then die off after a few months, so I doubt it'll be worth it to keep it around longer than that - but I think it's be definitely worth having for the launch window, at least.

Is anyone interested in playing this multiplayer? There are a few people around the Giant Bomb PC Gaming Hub who play it, but I was wondering if anyone else is interested in playing this with me. I'm a huge fan of this game, but I'm a little scared to jump into random public multiplayer games, so I'd love it if we could get some community people together to play on occasion.

Definitely friend me on my Steam profile or find me in the Gaming Hub's Mumble server if you want to play sometime!

I think people are getting confused about the point of those criticisms. It isn't that the glow has faded, and they suddenly hate the game; it's that - as many of these writers point out themselves - the game is so good that the minor flaws become all the more obvious. Bad or mediocre games don't get this kind of discussion; the fact that Infinite is generating this kind of critical discussion only validates it as a great game.

Steam: Mageknight

Location: US West

Experience: I've got like 600 hours in Dota 2 (along with probably twice that in HoN), so, uh... "Veteran?"

Favorite Role: Hard to say these days, as now I play a bit of everything. Mostly support and ganker roles, I suppose.

Add me on Steam if you're interested in pick-up games; feel fry to shoot me an offer to play whenever if I'm not doing anything else. I'm mostly looking for cool duders to play public matchmaking with or teach the ropes to. Also, if you haven't already, join the "GiantBomb" chat channel ingame!

I thought we'd never see another of these; Ashley's work is astounding.

I agree witih Finch; I love the idea of inhouses but the execution can be extremely messy. Fun random games definitely sound like an improvement.

I'm completely in love with the "Training Night" idea. We find a bunch of people who are nice and knowledgeable and pair them with noobs - maybe 2 trainers to 3 trainees for a full team of 5? Then they can inhouse, play against bots, matchmaking, whatever. It would be a great way to introduce new people into the community as well as give people access to experienced players with positive attitudes. I'd be more than happy to help with that, time permitting.

Solid balance changes, but they don't address the current problem plaguing the game: Phantom Lancer. That guy needs his agi growth reverted to previous not-broken levels. However, nerfs to KotL, Nyx, and the changes to Tranquil are all good. Also, dat living armor buff.

There's a new expansion coming out this summer: http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/15/4101742/civilization-5-brave-new-world-expansion

It's $30, like Gods & Kings, and is focused on making the mid-to-late game more interesting with things like revamps of the culture victory, a new lategame "international trade" system, and a new "World Congress" system. The World Congress is the UN of the past Civ games, where you vote on resolutions that affect every player. Of course, there's also the usual array of new civs, wonders, and scenarios too.

I think this sounds pretty great. I like Civ V a lot and I still go back to it, but the parts of the game they're overhauling (especially the culture victory!) can be exceptionally dull. I also missed the old UN, so I'm glad to see that back. What do you guys think - are you interested in this?
