I'm in the mid 140s, but that includes two complete playthroughs and getting all of the achievements.  I am glad that they have stopped putting out DLC so I can start saving up for New Vegas.  Aside from the Orange Box, this is probably the best value I have gotten from a game in this generation.

Wow, I didn't expect my Pancake's pick to be such a minority opinion.  They have "cake" right in their name so they have to be good.  What the hell is a "waff" anyway?

I have to admit that I was very tempted to do this myself.  I refrained, but still wonder was unintended consequences the Quest stuff is going to have.  Especially when it comes to secret quests.  I have all of a set but one (which is secret) and though I know it is wrong, I've thought about asking people what it is multiple times.  I guess watching more of the Deadly Premonition endurance run will help me occupy my time.

@SteamPunkJin:  That seems pretty reasonable.  The Citadel is where I got bogged down all right.  I know it isn't far into the game, but then I went to New Orleans for a week, and I'm having a hard time picking it back up.  Thanks for the advice.

With the introduction of Mass Effect 2, and popular reviews from many outlets, I though I should give it a try.  Many of the sources said that it was worth it to have played Mass Effect first, so I order it through Goozex.  Comes in the mail, I give it an hour and then I stopped playing it.  I know it is the same story over and over with me, but I couldn't find the time to get into the game.  Strangely enough I have started re-playing Bioshock on expert to finish off my S class.  I think spending my (at most) one hour per night reading codecs or wandering a space station trying to continue a side quest isn't exactly what I want to do.  Strangely, spending my whole hour trying to kill a single Big Daddy (the first one is tough) only to go to sleep a failure didn't bother me at all.  I seem to be able to play Spirit Tracks just fine, why can't I play Mass Effect and stay interested?

Dabnabit!!  I tried looking for that and failed.  Didn't mean to create a post when I could have commented there.  I guess I have some reading to do.

As alluded to on the Bombcast, there are a number of games that Jeff will accept as valid "best game ever" contingent on when you were born.  So (wiithout judging people) let's start the list and maybe Jeff will chime in with what is acceptable and what isn't.   Obviously this list depends on context, so say a little bit (3 sentences) about your gaming life to we understand why you put your answer.  Please don't respond that someone's answer is crap . . . that is for Jeff to do if he has time.

I was born in 1978, but didn't start playing games until I was in high school.  I had a TurboDuo until I got an N64.  NO SUPER NINTENTO!

My best game ever is the original Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast.

I think I point out that I wont be purchasing L4D2.

To make things more clear, I'm not trying to say that Valve is out of line for making a sequel to Left 4 Dead.  It's fine that they want to make another.  My point was a broader one regarding the "right" time for a sequel based on the genre.  I feel like I could have made similar statements using Madden as a model.  There is 1 Madden per year because of the seasonal nature of the sport.  Feels right.  Or maybe using SF4 and the new SF4:CE that will be coming out soon.   Or the gaps between Ratchet games.

Again: I don't think Valve is insane for making Left 4 Dead 2.

Maybe painting CoD as a story driven game isn't accurate . . . but there is a story there.  There was a narrative, much more than Left 4 Dead.  Either way I think my point works:  games that feature a story should have sequels more frequently than games where the story is formed in multiplayer.

Probably because of the white elephant I didn't mention in my post: money.

I echo your point.  I would love more time spent on single games that are awesome.  What's Team Ico doing next?
