Famous People

So while I was at work today (a Sam's Club in Des Plaines, IL), I had the opportunity to meet a man by the name of Andrew Cashner. I didn't fully understand who he was until one of the door greeters told me he was a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. That was only after talking to him like I would any other person in a suit- calm, collected, and semi-business like. After I found out, I just spoke to him like I was before- like any other regular Joe. Now was that very cordial of me? Not really... but I betcha he would've preferred I just spoke to him as a person rather than as a fan pining for an autograph. Now my question is this:

If you were to meet with somebody famous, be it someone in the town you live in or somebody big from Entertainment/Politics/Etc, how would YOU react to realizing who they were?

If someone like, say, Eminem were to ever grace my presence I would just try my hardest to keep cool without sounding like "OH MY GOD IT'S HIM, OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S EMINEM!"

I've met Gillian Anderson.

It was orgasmic, for lack of a better word.

I've met loads of famous people. Fame doesn't really impress me though. If they're not in the middle of something, I might mention I'm a fan, but otherwise I give them their space or treat them like anyone else. Seeing Ozzy Osbourne pick a wedgie backstage will do that to you.

I've met Steve Vai before, as well as some lesser know but still famous guitarists like Rob Balducci and Mike Martin. I also met Carrot top at the mall. I didn't know it was him until after the fact, I was like "holy shit, that was carrot top"

Seeing Ozzy Osbourne pick a wedgie does force you to give the famous their space, this is why the Paparazzi consider it the most dangerous thing in the world to witness.

Met a few famous people over the years, most of them nice and down to Earth.

Daniel Johns from Silverchair was an utter cunt, however.

Plano, IL The town or main street is going to be the main focus of smallville. A huge action scene is going to happen, a tornado or something with soldiors being repeleld down, evacuated cars in traffic. some cool stuff.

Met Richard Branson once. I've seen Steven Tyler grocery shopping, though I did not bother him. I sat two rows away from Leonardo Dicaprio at a Celtics game once.

I met various Red Sox players as a child.

Met Roger Moore at a car convetion once in my old home town (In Denmark) The man asked for a light so he could light a cigaret and I pulled mine out and he asked how old I was, I answered him and he went like "12? and when did you start? when you were 11? well there's no law against that so I'm surprised you haven't started earlier" Then he talked about cars with me and my friends dad for 45 minutes. Inside I was freaking out, favorite bond, right there. I could punch him! I kept my cool and was told by the man himself that "it's ok if you wanna freak out now" ...

Fame isn't a valuable quality to me. If I had the opportunity to meet Oprah I really wouldn't be excited because I couldn't care less about her. I would rather meet Ryan, Jeff, Brad, and Vinny even though they aren't necessarily "famous".

I also met G.W. Bailey (Captain Harris) from the later Police Academy films when I was eight. He was feeding underprivileged children at a Universal Studios cafe at the time, which impressed me to no end.

My dad lives where I live in North Carolina. But the Cubs had a minor league club in Hickory back in the 40's or 50's, so he's been a fan since.

I was walking to my friend, when some guy on a phone stepped out of a store and walked pretty much right into me, or vice versa, I said something to him about moving out the way, he says something along the lines of 'hey, sorry, buddy' and I just keep walking with my head down because I feel like a total bellend for bumping into this guy. My friend, who was standing on the other side of the shop was like 'What did Ryan Reynolds just say to you?' I was confused for a moment, then when I turned around, he was already walking in the other direction so I didn't even know if it was him or not but she seems relatively convinced.

Also, while I was typing that, I remembered another story. I was in Montreal on GP weekend and I ended up in a car across from Michael Schumacher. We gave him a thumbs up and he gave us one back, like super unimpressed, but then I remembered I was in my Nationalmannschaft jacket and I held the DFB logo up to the window and his expression immediately changed to a beaming grin and a double thumbs up.

I accidentally punched Hulk Hogan in the neck. He was walking out of an arena after a WWE taping I went to in 2003 I believe it was, and I tried to punch through a crowd and hit him in the shoulder, but I missed and hit him right in the neck.

I saw Madonna near where I used to live in Brooklyn. That was neat.
Of course, being a Utahn, I met John Stockton and Karl Malone. They were my heroes. Steve Young visited my elementary school, and I met him, which was neat.
And, how could I forget meeting Mickey Mouse in Anaheim one year. Probably the biggest celebrity I've ever met.
I could potentially meet the Woz, as my father works with him. In my youth, I don't think I understand the significance of that.

You should be in a book or something! Only a handful of people have ever been able to hit Hulk Hogan... And you're one of them!

That's awesome! :O
