Unforgiven
The Wild Bunch
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (not really a western, but might as well be.)
Blood Meridian (not really a movie, but it's brutal enough.)

It sounds brutal, savage, and nihilistic. In other words it sounds like God of War. Sign me up.

I'm torn here, because I appreciate that you didn't go the obvious Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket route, but at the same time I would totally put those in my war movies list haha. Well, maybe not FMJ, I think it's overrated.

I've started watching it recently, and I must say it's an engaging sport if you know what to focus on. It's true that it's harder to follow here in the states unless you don't mind watching it in spanish, which I don't since I'm hispanic. It's fun hearing the spanish commentators go nuts for pretty much anything.

I can see the point in both sides of the argument. I agree that updating a story to fit into modern sensibilities makes perfect sense, but the fact that it's being plastered onto a game that should be a lame Hollywood action movie seems crazy to me. Having not read the story I have no special reverence for it, but I know enough about it to find the whole thing laughable. It reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons where they go to the theater to watch a Zorro movie and it's ripe w/ anachronisms and Hollywood cliches; even ending w/ a lame rap song about Zorro. That pretty much sums up how I feel about it. However you feel about it though, EA is totally getting what they want considering all the discussion this game is generating. I imagine calling it Dante's Infero was a marketing move as much as anything else.

There must be some caveat I missed stating Post-Alt Metallica and on vs Linkin Park, because that's the only way metallica can not be picked over them. I mean as far as american metal goes Metallica are like the elder statesmen, and linkin park is just whatever to me, so obviously Metallica for me.
