The only thing I'll say, without having finished the podcast, is that Giantbomb really needs someone who plays portable games and takes them seriously. Hearing the crew say "Monster Hunter Generations" then everyone laughing like it was a dumb answer was really disheartening, as it is easily the best entry in the series, with the new mechanics, the new tutorial, and the learning curve for the game being lowered dramatically. It earned its place on my top 10 list with over 200 hours played, and it deserves recognition beyond a silly giggle.
I've noticed that happen a lot with portable games though, they get the cold shoulder on this site a LOT unless they somehow transcend everyone's expectations way more than a traditional console game does, like with ZTD and Vinny. I mean come on, a mainline Shin Megami Tensei game came out this year on 3DS and it didnt even get so much as a glance from anyone on the crew.
@houk: The controls make sense within the context of the game.
When you play the games and realize that everything in the game is laid out in a grid and that each of Lara's moves manipulate her position within that grid to a certain percentage, the precision you have over your movement is fantastic.
The new games are in a different class altogether, they have a similar spirit but they lack the "puzzle" element that made the originals so fantastic, in my eyes.
Man I wanna pull my hair out every time they play Tomb Raider!
I should make a tutorial video on how to play and appreciate the old Tomb Raider games, as while they appear to be action platforming games, they're instead PUZZLE platforming games.
Tomb Raider 2 is one of my favorite games on the original Playstation, and I just wanna sit down and show Dan and Drew how fucking rad the game can be if you understand the underlying mechanics!
What happens with this game if you've got a spotty network connection? Is the entire song on a GHTV stream downloaded before you play, or is it streamed like Pandora? It'd be shitty if your network dropped out mid-song and it kicked you back to the menu.
