I'm kinda surprised that people are ragging on Fallout 4 so much. But then again I've never been able to comprehend why people like New Vegas so much. Despite the fact that New Vegas had a more dynamic story with more branches and variants, I basically had zero interest in doing anything that I didn't have to. The world design for New Vegas is just straight up garbage. I feel like part of the reason they chose Vegas area is because outside of the city the place is a barren wasteland. And they stuck to that pretty well. There are just so many uninteresting locations in NV. Rarely was I ever tempted to explore outside. Instead you might as well fast travel everywhere.
On the other end of the spectrum Fallout 3 had so many places that were expertly placed such that you can see them just over the horizon. So you're constantly going from one place to the next just kinda seeing what is going on. Fallout 4 actually accomplishes this pretty well. DEFINITELY not as well as Fallout 3, and the intro area to Fallout 4 is just straight up garbage. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they set that all up. But if you're coming to the game looking for another exploratory adventure, as I did, it's pretty damn solid. And for the record the writing for the Fallout 3 vaults I thought was the most interesting thing. New Vegas really only did anything interesting with Vault 22. The rest were just dumb bases for vigilante factions.
I'm wondering if I need to put some more hours into MGS V. I got about 10 hours in (maybe a bit more) and I just don't really find it that interesting. I kinda think the objectives are boring and I don't really care to experiment much with the different items too much. Honestly I've felt more compelled to do something like that in Fallout 4.
Also doing stealth in a huge desert is kinda just annoying.
I'm not a person that really ever enjoys listening to game music outside of a game. So usually when I do I feel like it says something. And Hotline Miami 2 has some dope ass music.
Danny Baranowsky has some equally impressive music though but I guess I can't speak to Crypt of the Necrodancer since I haven't listened to/played it. However I think both would be a better contender than Splatoon.
I think as a kid I kept trying to believe it was a good Mario game but it was not. I think I just got it not as a gift though so I wasn't too sour about it.
