edit: another parting thought- the olympics kinda creep me out. i love the athletic performances, but any overt and over-the-top displays of nationalism make me feel uneasy. but that's a personal hangup.
I appreciated it. For a brief moment the general US population was less focused on the dumpster fire that is the upcoming election.
i suppose that's true- but for me it makes it all the more depressing. we'll pretend for a moment (when sports are on and we're winning) that we're all united and we share a common view of what the country should look like- but then you look at the current political landscape and realize there's very little collective will to collaborate and work together, let alone a shared vision of the future- i just find it hard to be enthusiastic about a flag that represents a nation with a deep and troubling identity crisis.
