End of an era... haven't felt this way since the news about Ryan (RIP). I'm curious where it'll go from here under Jeff's (?) direction, but I'll definitely miss the team as a whole. I think the Persona4 Endurance Run was the ticket to getting my attention on a regular basis as it coincided with some life changes on my end. The times when it seemed like Jeff & Vinny might duke it out over something stupid that happened. :-) Actually I may break it out during my next staycation to remember those times.

To Alex, Brad and Vinny,

Thanks for your hard work & effort over the years and here's hoping you enjoy the next thing you enter into. Oh, and if you happen to want to get together again for a 3 hour podcast for charity in a year, I'd be in to donate to the cause. :-)

Watching the Mass Alex series and got through 24, but now there's only 26 and the beginning of it they describe things which definitely have not yet happened in the series. Is episode 25 just gone or...?

I've been scanning/reading posts and one thing I haven't really seen is potential attrition... (simplified story below)

GB was founded when a management team tried to force things upon the staff... JeffG and Ryan started a little something then were joined by other former coworkers. I don't know what the odds are of something like that happening again, but if they did do it as a team, then yeah, I'd be part of that Patreon to help them self-fund. That said, there's also a chance that some of the old-timers may not like how things are going and opt out on their own, regardless of the odds of a future new team. If that were to happen, RV would most definitely lose out because a chunk of the community would bail on them. I would just feel bad for those who then remained.

I certainly hope the team pulls through this relatively unscathed because they do have a certain cohesion that you don't see in some other companies. At this moment, I'll just wait until something more conclusive comes to light.

PS. Before anyone flames me, I've only been a part of 2 acquisitions... in one, a company three times our size acquired our software firm, all but 1 of ~220 were re-hired. In the second, our startup of ~30 people was acquired by a much larger firm which was a subsidiary of another... grandparent company was some 67k people. Not two years later, our group is hoping to get back to 15 people. Loss through attrition due to processes and business values does happen.

Well, again, I apologize if you feel like those conversations didn't go anywhere. I'm not sure who was responsible for merchandise back in those days and I wasn't part of Giant Bomb at that point, although I did work at Whiskey. It was one of the many things that was shoved under my bailiwick when I joined GB 18 months or so ago. We didn't print any new shirts for most of 2013, but, starting with the Bombduders shirt last year, we have offered women's sizes.

Rory, the point is, there 1000 things like this I could name - decisions GB chooses to make that push women away. And if I did, I'd have your users dynamiting in to the walls of my house to explain how I'm wrong.

There are some women that use GB despite this culture. I was one of them for years and years. Believe it or not, being a software engineer, I enjoy hanging out with men. But when GB users bullied my friend Samantha Allen out of the industry and you chose to do nothing for weeks - that's when I had to not support you guys any more.

But, it's the overall culture here that pushes women away in ways you probably don't even think about.

Hi @spacekatgal

I would've preferred to just remain reading things and seeing how much has changed since I first entered the workforce, but I'm afraid I don't see how any of GB's staff has "pushed away women". I haven't seen anything but respect from the GB staff in the videos / reviews they provide and honestly can't see how you could say that.

I also cannot understand how you seem to then loop in the larger GB community as a proxy for the GB staff itself. To me, that's a straw man argument because your initial assumptions aren't being upheld. I've never once heard the GB staff say anything that could even remotely be attached to supporting the sort of abuse we've seen of our fellow human beings.

Please understand that I value your opinion, and one that is different from mine, because it gives a certain other perspective, but I do have to point out that your issues are out of the GB staff's control.

Regards,

Kelly

Like everyone else... loved the video... as far as the app, I like it.... though the releases button should list the releases in descending order, so you can always see the most recent release first.
