Yeah, I am sticking with the 2-Letter-Codes ;)

Anyway, just wanted to let you know, that I am leaving work early today to get my hands on a copy of Street Figher IV ... can't wait.
Even if I am most likely will find no time to play this game, and develop a certain skill... the urge to own it is massive.

ME2

I am torn between starting that post with an all caps "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT TEASER ITS SO F**ING AWESOME" or just staying in character and acting like a grown up ;)

Well, did you see it? No? Go see it! Now!

You're back?

Great... WASN'T IT F**ING AWESOME?!? Sorry...

Well, yeah. I am excited. Really liked ME1 and as we were told that it's going to be a trilogy I was expecting news for the second part anyway. But this teaser really got me going ... wow. I hoped to find some answers in the comments at various gaming sites, but everyone is just bubbling about :)

So yeah, Shep probably isn't killed. It would be a shame, if he/she were. But what makes me more curious is that Geth with the N7-Armor.  If I remember it right, back from before ME1 was released, the N7 doesn't refer to the Spectre but to a special training for Alliance Soldiers. So, it's strange a Geth would have that logo on his breast, as he definatly didn't train at Arcturus.
Also, I read the second ME-Novel just a couple weeks ago, and it's story plays about half a year after the incidentes of the ME1-game, and Shep is still alive then. And I don't think the 2nd game would be situated much later than that, if you think about the "I am going to kick their metal asses"-end of the first game :)
Thirdly, if you visit the ME-Homepage it has a loading screen with the Cerberus-Logo, so I guess they are going to be an important part of ME2. Obviously a VIP like Shep wouldn't be able to go undercover at Cerberus, as some people in the comments pointed out. And Cerberus wouldn't cooperate with the Geth either...

I hope ME2 is going to be released this winter. I don't think I could take waiting longer for it... :)

Mexalen, Demo-Man

Boy, has it really been a month since my last update?

With this girl taking my time and work sucking all my energy, there hasn't been a lot of gaming lately. I don't even manage to follow gaming-news like I used too.
I guess it's a natural developement, when you start dedicating a bigger part of your life to your career, but I don't have to like it.

Anyway, I finally got my hands on the RE5-Demo and the Halo Wars-Demo today, and thought I'd let you into my thoughts about them.

RE4 was an awesome game, I played it on a friends Gamecube back then. RE5 however didn't manage to grab my attention like that. The idea of not being able to move while shooting keeps me from getting involved and the item-management is a pain!
Also the demo doesn't manage to explain what you have to do, where you need to go, etc  at a lot of points, and as there are no save points it was rather frustrating for me.

Halo Wars on the other hand seems to be rather easy. The demo was, at least. I like the story and the way it was told and I'd really love to play through it, just to satiate my hunger for Halo-Lore :) The controlls are easy to handle, but they leave a lot of options out. I guess there is never going to be a RTS on a console, that has a really good control scheme (ie: mouse & keyboard).

On a more somber note, I realized that my X360-harddrive is finally running out of space. I had to delete some content, just to get the demos on it. As it is a first-gen 360 I knew that the point where I'd need to invest into a bigger HDD would come sooner or later. Especially since I bought a couple of extensions that are f*ing huge. I'll probably  wait for a new game to arrive or when I actually have time to play more, before I am going to buy the new one anyway.

I hope it's not going to take another month, before I am able to share some thoughts with you guys.
Happy gaming everyone!

Status update

Having met a pretty awesome girl about 2 weeks ago, I find myself spending all my free time with her lately. Drained from my gaming time, all the games I played lately have to wait, if I can free myself from her spell ..sorry Halo, Left 4 Dead and Heroes of might & Magic 5 ;)

I did manage to start my X360 yesterday and buy the Fable 2 Expansion, but as the download took its time, I just played some Puzzle Quest instead. I guess it will take a couple days, till I am able to give it a try. Unfortunatly I am having some stressfull weeks at work coming up to.

Today I started World of Goo once more in my ongoing quest to raise a tower that will stand for eternity. After a colapse at about 80ft, I decided to experiment a bit and limited myself to towers of  30ft  max. Behold the glory of the 5 towers I managed to build out of 300 goo-drops. You can clearly see, that the one in the middle was the first one, and how the degenerate in style and complexity the later they were built (buildorder from left to right: 2, 3, 1, 4, 5)

Happy gaming everyone (for those that find the time for it)

Call me Chief

I might have told you that before, but I never played Halo back on the first Xbox.
I never came around to do so, and frankly the game was way to popular to get me interessted. I played some MP with some collegues at work, but I always liked it to be the one single guy with an Xbox that did not play Halo ;)

As I hadn't played the first one, of course I did not bother buying the second one. Eventually I got Halo 2 as a present from Microsoft (being on of their retail partners), but a friend asked me for it, so gave it to him.

Guess what I did when Halo 3 came out? Yeah .. didn't buy it.

Last spring a friend bought himself a X360 and had Halo 3 included. He doesn't play shooters on the console and traded the game for my copy of Eternal Sonata. Finally I had a Halo-game in my hands :) And of course I liked it a lot. It's not often, that a game manages to make you feel heroic. Like a saviour.
Anyway, Halo 3 got me totally hooked up to the franchise.

During christmas MS offered Halo (1) for 600 points on XBL, I bought it and started playing yesterday. Even with the dated graphics and the leaps that gameplay did since then, it's still pretty awesome. Whatver the game tasks you with, It feels intense and important to do so.If only there were achievements... :)

There and back again

Just wanted to let you guys know, that I am still alive and kicking :)

As you can imagine, the last couple weeks been rather busy, with christmas coming up and the year going to end. Means lot's of work to do and tons of people that wanted to meet before we start into a new year.

Gamewise there isn't a lot new to report. I almost never touched my 360, as I spent the little gaming time I had with Heroes of Might and Magic V. I know it's a little dated, but my old iBook wouldn't have been able to run it, so I had to wait. I am a hugt HOMM-fan, and i quite like this one. They have a nice story going on, and the gameplay is a lot like HOMM3, which I consider to be the best HOMM game.

There were quite some news I would have commented, if I had had the time, but it's to late now, so who cares. I also missed the chance to tell you about, how I liked the trailer for Uncharted 2 so much, that I watched all the cutscenes of the first game on YouTube. As a X360-enthusiast I don't often talk nicely about the PS3, but Uncharted looks like a game I would play, if I had a PS3. The story was enganging, and Drake is a likeable dude ... a lot more likeable then Lara Croft, I'd say.

A good friend got himself a X360 for Xmas, wich is something I can only endorse :) Could be that we'd start playing some co-op games soon. Yesterday I went to his place with my HDD and controller and we played Castle Crashers from start to finish. He has a huge HD-TV, so I can finally say, that I played the game as it was intended to be played. Tomorrow we try to get to more friends to join us, to play it again :)

Well, that's it from me. I wish you all some gaming filled days and a happy new year (in advance).
Next Stop 2009 ... there are a lot of games coming I am waiting for :) ... now I am returning to HoMM V, there is a certain Necromancer that needs my guidance.

An extremly goo-d game!

A couple weeks ago I switched from my 3-years-old iBook to a brand new MacBook. There is tons of software I am capable of running now, I wouldn't have thought about. Even some games, I totally forgot about, like Heroes of Might and Magic V, which I am going to buy in the near future. Can't wait.

But the last couple days I spent with World of Goo, which almost had me proclaiming a new candidate for GOTY.
2 years ago we played "Tower of goo", the indie-ancestor of WoG, a lot at work. I like physic-based puzzlers, and the way the goo-drops reacted was a lot of fun. WoG takes this mechanics and expanded it in ways, I wouldn't have imagined.

Where Tower of Goo just asked you to build a tower that was high enough, the tasks you have to solve now are much more varied now. And with the introduction of new kinds of goo, there is a lot new stuff to learn. But besides the building of towers and bridges out of goo, and other stuff, 2D Boy manages to tell a story. A rather philosophical story, that got me really excited while it lasted... and just didn't manage to take me in at the end.

But there was this one moment, at the end of chapter 2, when I was like "OMG, that's so intense". The last time I felt like that was when playing Braid, when I realized whats going on in Level 1. I just love it, if a game can grab me on a meta-level...

I would have loved if World of Goo made it to be my game of the year... but still, it's a great game. It's a shame so many people decided to steal it, it's not that expensive but offers a lot of playtime.
I still didn't manage to build a comparable tower to connect to the leaderboards... :)

Me wants!

Valve has the Left 4 Dead-'movie-posters' on sale. Only 15 Dollar for the pack of four!

But shipping to Non-US-territories is another 27 USD, and I am not going to pay almost double for shipping then the wanted item! Thats crazy, and I am just slightly insane. Damn... I wish I was crazier :)

Deadest Space

As Event Horizon is one of my favourite horror movies, I was very interessted in "Dead Space" when I first heard about it. I thought about buying it, before I realised the other games that came that season, even as it's gory art didn't really got me in the first place.

Today I tried the Dismemberment Demo and I have to say, that I am happy to not have bought it. It looks fantastic and the sound is creepy like hell ... but that's definatly not a game for me. From shooting the limbs, to killing this small things that crawl at you, darkness not just surounding you but always creeping in, plus I didn't got the controls right...
I gave up on the demo after dieing 5 times in the first room, after just killing like 4, 5 aliens.

Obviously I need to shoot zombies in the head, not gun alien-limbs off :)
