Left 4 Dead and Red Alert 3 are both released this thursday around here. I have a huge interest in both games, and it's tough for me to make the decission wich game I am going to buy first. I don't like the idea of having both games at home and switching between them.

I have played the Left 4 Dead-demo about a dozen times now, and i still enjoy it. The game looks great, plays great and with the Director AI always offers something new (and if you have some morrons on the team, it's a completly different experience anyway). I really want to play it right now, and I guess I am not going to stop playing it soon :)

On the other hand there is RA3. I played every C&C game so far, and I haven't had a RTS (if you disregard the Endwar-Beta) since C&C 3. From all I can tell, I am sure to enjoy that game. As there is no demo out, and I don't remember reading about one comming soon, I'd buy it just because I want it to be good. The handling of C&C 3 on X360 was quite okay, and the control scheme seems to be polished now. I never played C&C 3 online, as I got it quite late, and probably I'd suck in MP-matches anyway.

All this just leads to the conclusion I should buy L4D first ... but I could still play the demo, if I needed to kick some zombie-ass. And usually I prefer RTS to any FPS. And there is a certain charme to the idea of spending my time with Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic ;)
Anyone care to help me make my decission? :)

wow ... that's was pretty intriguing. Not often a game has you die and let you stay dead and yet you still 'win'. But it's really depressing, even with great music like that.

Ha..relationships.. ;)

Professor Layton and the curious village has finally been released around here. I guess that putting the game in 5 languages on the cardridge took them quite a while... Anyway, I picked it up on the first day and spent some quality time with the game. Here are some thoughts, while I am still puzzling around Saint Mystere:
  • I really like the presentation. That Miyazaki-like artstyle. The music, the story, all the characters you meet.
  • The story and the way it's told via videos and tons of dialogue etc keeps you comming for more. All the mysterys you discover in this crazy town, keep you on your toes. Awesome!
  • The 'side-quests' (painting, room, etc) are a nice treat. It's not like they take up much time, but it gives the game a certain depth.
  • Most of the puzzles are just great. Just sit there, think about it, read the instruction carefully and you got it.
  • But on the other hand there are quite a lot of puzzles I thought were rather awefull. The instructions were not clear, and made me just guess at least once, to get a push in the right direction.
  • What's the use of a hint-system if the hints don't tell you anything that helps to solve the riddle?!? Paying a coin to get a "you need to look very carefull." (or the like) just makes me angry.
  • In the end the games leaves you with the possibilty to just guess as often as you want to. Sure it decreases how many points you get for the solution, but you'll get at least half the points possible. Once I couldn't figure out, what numbers to put in, and i just worked my way through all possibilities till I got it right.
  • Some puzzles make me want to just save - get all the hints - try as often till it is solved and then reload ... because I feel it's not my fault that I wasn't able to solve it. And that just makes me feel sad about myself...

So yeah ... it's a great game, with a nice story and some brain-busting puzzles .. but it got quite some flaws that made me switch of the DS in anger more then once. Well, maybe I just don't like being told, that I am to dumb, to find the longest way through town or how to make arguing neighbours go to work without incident... ;)

I chose sacrifice and while Theresa was talking about it, I realized I didn't want to be without dog and my family, and reloaded. It's strange, but they have grown to me, and I worked hard for them.

Besides I already had enough reknown to be "the most famous person in the world" and actually the money never tempted me, maybe I am going for sacrifice with my 2nd playthrough ;)

I really liked having the choice, took me quite some minutes to figure out what to do.

Fable 2 tasks you with a lot of moral choices .. I'd argue that it's rather valuable to play that game. At least if you opt for being a good guy :)

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought, that I'd take it as seriously as I do. Seems like the game knows how to pull my strings ;)
