I hate some of this, but I'll recommend it just this once.

Dark Souls at number one immediately means I love/agree with this list.

I personally disagree with your numerical listing (opinions) But Good For You in putting Shadow Warrior in the line up. I thought it had a bit of bloom (or lighting) problem, and some of the story line felt disjointed. But Shadow Warrior was a fun good game for me this year. It deserves recognition.

Did you play A Machine for Pigs? If so, how is it compared to Outlast? I'm currently looking for a new horror game and I really liked some of the things Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs tried to do, but I didn't find it that scary compared to the original.

A Machine for Pigs isn't scary at all, and for all the people who say something like "It's the story that's supposed to be scary!", I want you to go screw yourselves. Having played it and Outlast this year, Outlast is easily the more frightening game, but even that stops being scary after a while due to how predictable the scares start getting at the midway point.

I'd say just wait for Frictional Game's next venture into survival horror, because thankfully The Chinese Room will stay far, far, FAR away from it and not make it a boring slog.

Man, I was going to be an asshole and make some joke in the comment thread of GB's GOTY podcasts like:

I really like this list. I don't like Dark Souls but I respect it and totally see why somebody would put it on the first place on their list. Then you have Last of Us and Rayman Legends on the list (especially the latter got too little love) and the rest is a nice diversified genre mix of great games. I endorse this list and would give it a 9/10 which makes it my game of the year list of the year (short GotYLotY). Congratulations. Your price will arrive soon via drone.
