China has perfected the art of bootlegging. Overwatch, Pokemon GO... Pretty much any big game will end up getting cloned on the cheap and put out on the Chinese app store. I'm not 100% sure how they can get away with it (I assume international copyright law is COMPLICATED), but they've been doing it for years and will probably continue to get away with it.
Hmmm....every system in the game is solid in isolation, the moment-to-moment gameplay is fun, but it doesn't all come together well and has some technical issues = 2/5? Numbers are indeed silly. 5-6 hours of fun for a game that costs $40 is an acceptable value proposition to me, and I've had fun with it. It seems game journalists/critics had much higher expectations for this game than I did and have rated it accordingly, thank goodness my default position is to assume everything will be shit.
Every complaint I've seen about the review and QL come from people who are 5-6 hours into the game, who seem to be ignoring that Jeff and I have both repeatedly said we were also really enjoying it right up until that point. It severely goes off the rails in the last few hours.
This needs to be pinned somewhere or something because it seems like every similar review has the same kind of response from people. Brad and Jeff are far from the only reviewers to find these issues with the game, but people seem determined to "prove them wrong" or something. I'm all for finding the good in a mediocre game, but at some point it becomes blind zeal.
