@Tennmuerti: @Karkarov: Ah, right - I'd missed that thread! ... though, I'm trying to avoid digging too deeply before it's out (which is difficult!), and as such haven't looked around THAT much the other trees. I'll have to look into that a bit more.

I'm about 90% certain that long-term(/endgame), a Sniper-Zer0 will be far more effective than one built around Many Must Fall - it's just the math of fighting bosses vs plowing through weaker enemies and likelyhood of getting yourself murdered by being in melee range of big baddies (I'm pretty good at getting myself killed as is)... If anything, I'm a bit concerned about the "endgame-viability", but... eh, with the badass ranks, I'm hoping it'll not be as much of a chore to play another class, in that case :)

I see what you mean about Maya/Axton having had less visibility, but it's likely just a case of the Cyber Ninja Assassin and Dual-Wielding Rocketlauncher dude being easier to market :)

If anything, the closer we get to release, the more excited I get about playing allclasses.

@Tennmuerti: I've read some crazy theories about Zer0, suggesting that "he" is actually eridian. It's been noted that he apparently has 3 fingers, unlike the other characters, and looks quite "elongated".

It's just speculation, but I hid it behind spoilers anyway.

I like his Bloodshed tree, basically, building around "Many must fall"... could turn out to be quite crazy. Or terrible! (I'm a bit concerned about taking the guns out of the gungame, but I have to try it out now!)

They've spoken about wanting to release it on PC, but that it was something they would look into post-launch.

Seems plausible?

@Codeacious: Nah, the ring is a simple loop. The ring is described as being "shaped as" a Great Serpent - not sure how you'd do that with an infinity symbol (brass knuckles?)

The Ouroboros on the logo of Wheel of Time (an infinity-symbol-shaped Ouroboros weaved through a wooden wheel) is shaped like the infinity symbol, though.

edit: and here's the officially licensed "Aes Sedai Great Serpent ring": http://www.fantasy-jewelry.com/products/Aes-Sedai-Great-Serpent-Ring.html

@zels: I wish I could, but there's pretty overwhelming evidence of it not being this!

Like this quote from the source of the countdown page:

<!--. X . X X . T X -->
<!-- Two centuries ago, your divine champion told the people of Dyrwood to grovel at his feet. If you've come on pilgrimage to the blasted crater that was our reply, Godhammer Citadel is *that* way. -->

Just boiling it down to "Godhammer" invalidates any Wheel of Time theory (the word "God" has been carefully avoided through all books. Synonyms are used ("Creator"), but "God" is not a concept that has ever been used)

If anything, I'd say that the key to figuring this out what it is rather than what it is not is in the cipher on the first line of that quote.

@zels: It's not, because, as said, first of all, a snake eating it's own tail is not unique to the Wheel of Time. It's an Ouroboros. A common mythological theme. Second, the holder of the Wheel of Time IP, Red Eagle, recently announced that they are now working with Jet Set Games, developing Mobile Games.

Also, as someone who has read the books multiple times, there's nothing in anything written so far that I feel could even be remotely related. (This is not to say it isn't, just that it doesn't have that feel).

It's a shame, as I would've liked to have seen Obsidian make a Wheel of Time game, and additionally unfortunate because Red Eagle are now working on Mobile Games? (Euuuuugh).

If anything, the names/locations in the texts have a bit of a celtic feel to me, which makes me think a bit of Dungeon Siege. Could be new IP, or something else.

*shrug*

Started playing it about a year ago, but for some reason put it down.

I keep thinking about finishing it. Then I start up Dark Souls, or something, instead.

So, here's why it's not a conspiracy:

It's information to identify you using your character's account ID, which is not the same as your Battle.net account. The IP included is the IP pointing to the server the client is connected to, not yours.

This is a way for Blizzard to be able to track down those who break NDAs, play on private servers (and tracking down the servers) as well as exploiters.

And it's stupidly easy to circumvent. Either you can change the image quality of the saved screenshot (in WoW), or you use an external screenshot manager - like Steam or FRAPS. Hey, presto - no water marks.

(Disclaimer: there may be more to this than I've seen, but so far... if anything, I think it's a cool use of technology, which has gone unnoticed since Wrath of the Lich King was launched... in 2008.)

AFAIK: as Giant Bomb is running on an old version of the same platform that is running Tested.com (and Screened), it's likely that this is just a case of someone forgetting to point a link away from BermanBraun - probably something that's needed to be fixed/changed since the split, that may be using a code snippet from Andy and co.

Seems like the most plausible, and less conspirational explanation, at least.

(bring on the tin foil hats!)

Only thing more exciting right now is Borderlands 2.

To be honest, my weeks between Borderlands 2 and XCOM are quite busy, so I'm worried that I'll have to shelf Borderlands early (or wait to get started with XCOM).

Yes, it's a terrible decision. Boohoo. :P

@crusader8463: They aren't using Gamespy this time, so there may be some hope! :)

Oh, and PC.
