Haha yeah, the games nuts with how crazy the shit that can go down becomes. Funny how its always the ones who have easy access to weapons are the crazies...
The stories the game brings are easily the best part. Heres a bit about a fort I'm playing now.
[small spoiler about a type of invasion in it, nothing major but it is intended to surprise you]
I've had these badgers living above my entrance on the hilltop I've dug into. They never really did to much, sometimes getting angry at the odd woodcutter or fisher that walked by, but never bothering me so I left them be. Mid summer of my second year a group of human traders show up. They get near my door/trade depot before showing themselves as an invasion! My drawbridge was down, people all over, military chilling at the barracks, it looked like a bloodbath was going down for me, until I see the badgers come down from the hilltop and start battling with the invasion force. By the time my troops show up and I get all my civilians inside and lock up, the badgers had routed the invaders. Needless to say I'll be giving them the royal treatment from here on.
There must be a reason you want to quit if your posting here, just think of that anytime you want to play. Probably the biggest advice would be to distance yourself from any friends playing it you know outside the game. It might sound kinda rude or something along that, but if your surrounded by people talking about a game, chances are your going to be interested and want to play it.
I quit when I left for university, since all the people I played with I worked with throughout high school. To me it really was more about the people I was playing with than the game though, but I was pretty bored of WoW and disliked the direction the game was heading, so it made it easy for me to drop the game completely.
Playing Wild Arms when Rudy gets caught by the arm by Ziekfreds chain as this huge ass portal to oblivion is ripped open and sucking Ziekfred into it, along with Rudy. Rudy swinging his sword as Ziek is taunting his uselessness and beckoning him to join him in the portal, but then Rudy SLICED OFF HIS FUCKING ARM. Ever since I played that the first time, it defined what epic meant to me. Best part? The game was halfway through only.
Sadly I played the game again after however long it was, and the scene was not nearly as cool as I make/made it out to be. Nostalgia is a bitch.
At first I'll enjoy the customization of the player character. Then I'll be in love with the wager matches. And the theater will be the feature that keeps me in the game for god knows how long.
