For anyone whose played the game. How frequent are the shitty named planets popping up? I'm worried I'm going to have my universe ruined by stupid fucking memes.

I haven't seen one yet (6 hours in). I'm not an expert on this or anything, but given the number of planets, I think you can safely assume that you will very rarely (if ever) see a planet named by anyone other than you.

Also, my guess is that most people are not naming everything they encounter. That would take a considerable amount of time. I named my starting system and every planet within it, but since then have just stuck with the name the game gave it.

I like it quite a lot so far, but it has crashed my PS4 3 times in about 5 hours. One of those times it hard locked the system. No other game has done that.

Contrary to popular opinion here, I think Lucioball is pretty fun. It's not something I will play for hours and hours, but's it's a fun little distraction for a few rounds. I never played much Rocket League though, so maybe the people that liked that are the ones that think Lucioball is crap?

I could care less about the skins. Why people get hung up about the skins is beyond me (not judging if you do, just not my thing). You can't see the thing 95% of the time.

Here is to you Ryan. You had such an impact on my life and gave me so much happiness. I appreciete it now and always, rest in peace.

RIP RTD (and to think there is maybe still a graffiti piece in memory of you, what would you have thought of that?)

The graffiti is gone, but you can still see it if you turn on 3D buildings. A little off topic, but I thought that was cool.

RIP RTD

@humanity: It runs great on a i7 920 @ 4.0 ghz and a 980 on ultra settings. Rarely ever drops below 60. No microstutter. Most PC games have disappointed me lately, but this one is solid.

I'm kind of a lapsed PC gamer myself, but I'm really glad I got Doom on PC. It's the definition of a twitch game.

But hey man, you do what you like. The console version will be just as much fun.

I mean uh, on a high on end PC like that yeah I can believe it runs great.

I have a pretty decent PC but an older generation CPU which kinda bottlenecks some stuff sometimes. I'll probably end up getting it on PC though just cause I've heard that it actually runs pretty well on a wide array of configurations.

No doubt a 980 helps, but my CPU is as old as dirt (2007). Doom doesn't seem to be CPU limited. Performance will depend on the GPU you have.

RIP AND TEAR! Whatever you decide.

@humanity: What reasons would you not want to get it for PC? Just curious. I've played a few hours of it and I am super happy I got it on PC. I'm sure it great with a controller, but I think this game is best with M+K (if you have the option).

I really, really, really love this game.

Ditto. I am pleasantly surprised I am liking it as much as I am. For what they set out to do, Doom is nearly perfect. It's an over the top, balls to the wall, 90's shooter that has modern systems integrated into it (and integrated well). The level design is the real star though. Every combat arena is built in such a way that you can just constantly run and gun while jumping and mantling all over the place. Never stand still! I can't even remember the last game I played that was as frantic as Doom is.

What a colossal achievement by id. I can't believe that A) I am way more into Doom than Uncharted 4 and B) it's probably my GOTY so far. I Can't wait to here Jeff's opinion on it.
