Possibly my shittiest birthday ever - literally.

Tomorrow I have a birthday.  The good news, I am getting a DSi.  However, this isn't looking like a good birthday though.  There is nothing bad as such, so prepare and feel free to laugh at my expense  ^_^

I am taking the day off work.  Good idea, birthday, no work.  Not really.  Our sceptic tank has backed up and is on the precipice of entering our house.  At this stage, there is some overflow in the 2 vents outside the house.  Nothing solid, but not a good smell.  So have it pumped out you say?  Oh, how I wish it were that easy.

You see, as usual, the tank is underground.  Trouble is, it is completely underground, including the opening where it would pumped.  Now, I am talking all of it underground and no plan or marker that tells me where the opening is.  This means I have to keep digging holes until I find it!  Get  earth moving equipment you say?  Yes, if I want to risk damaging the entire system and the massive cost that goes with it.  No, I have to dig holes.

I got home from work today to find my neighbour had already dug several holes, all to no avail.  Keep in mind, it is winter here and very cold and raining.  The rain may be at the heart of the problem as we have had an extremely wet 6 weeks with rain more often than not.  In fact, we are in flood again.  So, there I am, in mud, near freezing conditions and soaked, digging a trench.

Good news though.  I did find the sewer pipe from the house.  Now, my task tomorrow is to follow that pipe.  It is about 18" down, but I have no idea how far or direction.  Based on some local knowledge, I think I will be digging about 4 metres of trench to follow it to the final destination.

So yes, my birthday is shitty  :-(    Added to this, I do have a condition that when I am pushed to hard physically, I suffer low blood pressure and a racing heart.  I nearly fainted digging the holes I have already done.  It won't kill me, but it can slow me up.  Lucky though, all the rain has made the ground softer.  Hey, we have to find the sunshine where we can  ^_^

Stop laughing at my pain.  That's just mean.

Absolutely - which is why I added "literally".  Man, I hope I don't get any leakage or splash back.

I am now thinking that hand sized tarantula who I flushed down the toilet, after it attacked me, has grown and mutated and is waiting for the lid to be opened  ^_^  Oh crap, now I won't sleep tonight.

Tasmania.  We do have modern stuff here, but I live in a particularly regional and remote location.  We get phone (not internet, that is sattelite) and electricity, but not water, garbage collection or sewerage.  The view more than makes up for it.

lol, your situation sounds terrible. I would get some professional sewage people in myself, there's no way I could deal with that shit. I suffer a very adverse reaction to bad smells, I have been known to throw up on occasion.

Hell, I am not going to pump it out.  That I will leave the the professional.  He can have my $200 with pleasure to deal with my shit.  I just need to find it for him.  The labour costs to get people to dig it out would be horrendous.  I just don't want to sever the pipe, so I am going to be VERY careful.

Sorry to hear about that, I admire your decision to try and fix it yourself, most people would probably call out some professionals to do it. Good luck on it, hope you manage to get it fixed up. :)

Also, happy birthday for tomorrow, hope you have a good one. (I thought your birthday was earlier this month, sorry that I got it wrong)

This is the house and view I consider worth the seclusion.  The view of the mountain is from my bedroom balcony you can see in the house shot.

I think you better, otherwise shit will really happen. Could a metal detector help at all, perhaps there are metal components on the piping as well as the tank itself that you could follow.

Wow, your house does look pretty amazing.

On a more serious note than earlier, have you tried visiting your local city hall (however far away that is lol) don't they usually keep all documents on blue prints and planning permisson for housing?  You should be able to locate it on the blue prints much easier than just digging around.

Nope, all PVC piping and casing.  At least I found the pipe.  I dug a 3 metre trench looking for it and found nothing.  Then I kept digging lower in hope.  That was on top of the 2 metre trench I dug that failed and several other holes.  I consider myself lucky for finding it, although I was being rational about where it would most likely be.

My ancestors were from the north of England and landed here in the 1860s.  Every person of my family name in my state is a relative and a direct descendant of those settlers.  Sorry to burst any bubbles about my convict past   ^_^.  They had 8 sons to spread the name.

We actually did get the plans from the council, but they were as useful as pockets on a gumboot.  If we believed them, the tank was 10 metres from where I found the pipe.  I was lucky that a local friend actually help empty it 10 years ago, and gave us a general idea of location.  No idea why the plans didn't match reality.

First British settlements in 1803 Tasmania was known as Van Diemen's land until 1857 and it's total aboriginal population (estimated at 10,000) was wiped out  by 1876.
Thus concludes my knowledge of Tasmanian history. lol
I wish my history was as interesting. All we know is that we come from England and we now live in England.

Tasmania only made homosexuality legal about 12 years ago  ^-^    That is one of the reasons the state gets so much crap.  That and being off the mainland.  I say we should just merge with New Zealand.  It will be good for their economy.

Actually, it got to 35 I believe.  Digging in the  heat isn't a whole lot of fun, but nor is digging in freezing rain and snow.  I think I will stick with my cold climate though.

These humans have spent many months shitting into a pot full of water and flushing it into their yardhole. His property is so full of his family's shit that the yardhole is now overflowing into their living quarters. It's possible that in the coming weeks this family will be smothered underneath a wave of their own shit.  Fascinating.
