Possibly my shittiest birthday ever - literally.

Tomorrow I have a birthday.  The good news, I am getting a DSi.  However, this isn't looking like a good birthday though.  There is nothing bad as such, so prepare and feel free to laugh at my expense  ^_^

I am taking the day off work.  Good idea, birthday, no work.  Not really.  Our sceptic tank has backed up and is on the precipice of entering our house.  At this stage, there is some overflow in the 2 vents outside the house.  Nothing solid, but not a good smell.  So have it pumped out you say?  Oh, how I wish it were that easy.

You see, as usual, the tank is underground.  Trouble is, it is completely underground, including the opening where it would pumped.  Now, I am talking all of it underground and no plan or marker that tells me where the opening is.  This means I have to keep digging holes until I find it!  Get  earth moving equipment you say?  Yes, if I want to risk damaging the entire system and the massive cost that goes with it.  No, I have to dig holes.

I got home from work today to find my neighbour had already dug several holes, all to no avail.  Keep in mind, it is winter here and very cold and raining.  The rain may be at the heart of the problem as we have had an extremely wet 6 weeks with rain more often than not.  In fact, we are in flood again.  So, there I am, in mud, near freezing conditions and soaked, digging a trench.

Good news though.  I did find the sewer pipe from the house.  Now, my task tomorrow is to follow that pipe.  It is about 18" down, but I have no idea how far or direction.  Based on some local knowledge, I think I will be digging about 4 metres of trench to follow it to the final destination.

So yes, my birthday is shitty  :-(    Added to this, I do have a condition that when I am pushed to hard physically, I suffer low blood pressure and a racing heart.  I nearly fainted digging the holes I have already done.  It won't kill me, but it can slow me up.  Lucky though, all the rain has made the ground softer.  Hey, we have to find the sunshine where we can  ^_^

Stop laughing at my pain.  That's just mean.

It's possible that in the coming weeks this family will be smothered underneath a wave of their own shit.  Fascinating.  That's what if I'd write in my observation notebook if I were an Alien. "
That is a mental image I am very afraid of.

How do we know you aren't an alien, hovering invisibly above us, spying and reporting on Giantbomb to your masters?

I have located the septic tank and fortunately, it was only about 2 metres of digging.  Not quite finished yet though, as there is a lid somewhere nearby, that is about 1/2 metre square, which I need to find and clear.  I find the tank next to a cap in the pipe, that is oozing liquid (clear, not solidish) and believe me, after my arse, it is the worst smell ever  xD

Thank you.  I get the DSi when the kids get home from school.

I have located the cap and now I just need to clear around it.  Then this afternoon, a big pump will come by and solve my dilemma.  They suggested that I could loosen the cap and give myself some extra time, but to be careful as there will be a lot of pressure underneath and the result would be like a radiator cap, but not as hot, but a whole lot messier.  I decided against it.  If my shit is going to explode, I want to be over the person I am paying money ($200) to remove it  (^_^)

Shit exploding in someone else's face would be a nice end to your birthday.  That and the DSi of course.

Happy birthday!

Lucky for me, it didn't happen.  Check out the hard labour I had to do today:

I have this picture of you digging up the back garden just like in that Tom Hanks movie, The Burbs.

Good to hear you have found it... shame about your lawn though. If it does explode make sure take a pic of the builder with your mess on his face, lol, using your new DSi of course.

That's a very clay like soil you have there..

My street is much more normal that The Burbs, though I like to think of myself as an old Cory Feldman  ^_^

It actually isn't clay.  The colour is just accentuated by it being so wet.  It is however, wuite gravelly which is a pain.  Luckily it is just about spring, so the grass will grow back over quickly.

Haha, I was just thinking about him just now in the shower - thinking what on earth happened to him ;). I liked that scene where they're all camped out sitting on the roof eating pizza haha. He was great in the Lost Boys too.

If that's the natural soil I imagine it's nutrient rich with those mountains so close by.

Wow.. and i thought it was bad when my X boyfriend made me shovel 4 feet of snow in sub zero temperatures while 7 months pregnant.
Don't over exert yourself to much and try not to bury yourself in that trench you hear.

Wow, no wonder he is an ex - bastard.  Knowing that 12 years of excrement is below that trench is an incentive to stay safe  :-)

Yes, I still think Cort was a likeable actor in those films.

That game sounds sweet, just my kind of game.  It has a Harvest Moon feel to it.  One to watch for sure.

To wrap this blog up, thankyou everyone for your kind comments, even those of you who laughed at me  ^_^
