"We just felt like the idea of a new cast and a new enemy and a new setting, all of it together was going to be almost too much new. We didn’t have that grounding to what made Gears,Gears."
Well this is depressing. There's already 4 of them out there! Make it all weird and new!
Bought it, and absolutely loved the first hour. After that, however, it abuses it's tricks to the point where the scares and psychedelic warping of the environment lose their effect entirely. It eventually felt like walking through a carnival's haunted house: entirely predictable and devoid of real horror. So I returned it after 90 minutes.
That first hour though! What a wonderful set of tricks it has; it's unfortunate that those are it's only tricks and it abuses them.
If this game came out when I was in my late teens or early 20s, I think I would have been much more on board with it. I don't know if I care about exploring for the sake of exploring these days, especially if it's all procedurally generated.
Impressive tech and a gorgeous looking thing though.
Sure, up the price to 50, as if 30 wasn't high enough already.Totally reasonable.
And if someone wants to make the argument that all that stuff is going to cost a lot to produce, I'll just say this: I really don't want any small, non-story DLC out of a game like this. If the want to make it, fine, but they shouldn't forcibly include it into the season pass.
Then why not pay $25 for the thing you want?
I bet it's going to be more than 25 for all the story DLC stuff, since the first one is 20 already, so it's just another bad deal isn't it?
I'll get it for 30 now, so I don't really care, I'm just saying that I think this a bad business practice.
"This is bad business practice"
*Buys it anyway*
If you *truly* do not want to support something, don't support it. The only reason garbage DLC practices exist is because people keep throwing money at it.
@brad Do you think it plays better (specifically the puzzle-solving interface) with a keyboard and mouse or a controller? Tossing up between the PS4 and PC version for this reason. Cheers for the great review!
PC version can be played with KB+M or a controller. Always PC version.
People without massive internet followings didn't like Super Mario Maker quite as much. Who would have guessed?
Me and 5 friends are sharing levels back and forth and I feel the way Jeff and Dan do about it. You only need 1 or 2 people to get what they get out of it.
