@chrishathaway: To be fair to the crew, they all said exactly what you did. The tech worked, it was the marketing and presentation that they didn't like.

@ryanaclarke: Maybe if the games were better they would talk about them more. You said yourself that it's stale. Why would they talk excitedly about a stale game just because it's popular and brings different people in? If the games actually made sweeping changes that made them more fun to play then they would be given more attention. The most recent Call of Duty is a great example of this. People have been saying "It's another Call of Duty" for a while now until the latest one which finally seemed to hit the right marks. So they talk about it constantly, because it's actually good.

@calibrono: The same reason volume controls would be on any Windows only application. Almost every program has sound controls. Who is going to be baffled by seeing a mute option in a program? I'd argue that it's more confusing not having one.

Maybe it sounds weird to more computer savvy people but my family is not the best with computers and the existence of a sound mixer on Windows would not even cross their minds. Whenever I told them about it, they had no idea what I was talking about and I had to show them. My family would also not be playing Microsoft Flight Simulator lol, but the point is that a lot of people probably don't know about it and most users would expect it to be in the program itself.

2:30:47 Also does anyone know which UPF this is? I really want to see this video lol.

Edit: Found the video. It's this UPF at 1:25:55 but they also watch really weird old training videos throughout which are great.

Ehh I don't really agree with the first bit of Jeff's take on the Facebook and Oculus thing. Ben was pretty much saying what I feel. There's a big difference between "Facebook owns the headset I'm using with an email address" and "I'm using the headset while attached to my full Facebook account with all of my personal and life information on it". Yes, Facebook is probably already taking data off of the headset. But without an account they can't get data on who my friends are, what I like or dislike, who my family members are, where I work, what links I click on, what political or social topics I engage with etc. Those are not comparable and it sucks for a ton for people who still want some degree of control over their privacy.

It's also kinda weird to say that people can just get another headset. Oculus Quest is expensive at $400 but to some people, a few hundred dollars is a huge deal. And that would also be a few hundred dollars on top of already buying the Quest for people like me who bought it before this was a thing.

It's a crappy decision but I guess complaining isn't really useful. I say that because I do agree with the second part of what Jeff said. Facebook isn't gonna care, they know they're gonna get tons of users who don't care or who already use Facebook in the first place. Refusing to collect tons of data off of all users is not worth satisfying a minority of people who are upset by it.

@hippie_genocide: I'm not sure if I count as a young gamer in my 20s but I love the old Tony Hawk games. I mean we grew up during the 90s lol, I'm not sure how it would be boomer stuff.

Lol I think Mondragon is a Hispanic name, y'all. At least it is for the one person I knew in high school who had it. "Mon" and "dragon" rhyme with cone or stone, and then you roll the R in "dragon". This video says it how we would say it:

I feel a little out of the loop since I'm a relatively new subscriber and I don't know too much about GameSpot's history but I still liked Rich on the show! And his hair looks really fantastic!
